7. Grant Application:
Funding is limited and all applications will be assessed on the information provided by applicants. Upper limits have been provided as a guide. Funding provided by CBCA WA should only part-fund your library’s CBW budget.
Sponsor Requirements
All funding recipients must comply with sponsor requirements as outlined in the funding guidelines and funding confirmation documentation.
7.1 Metropolitan Regional Centres – Grant Application
Note: Grants up to $1500. Funding can only be used to go towards artists' fees.

7.2 Country Regional Centres - Grant Application
Note: Grants up to $3000. Funding can only be used for artist fees and travel to and from Perth. Applicants must cover accommodation and subsistence expenses for visiting artists.

7.2.1 Outreach to Schools/ Communities in Outlying Areas
Note: this funding is only available to country centres.
All Country Regional Centres are eligible to apply for additional small grants funding that demonstrate that the program will reach new audiences, in particular, remote and isolated communities or disadvantaged groups. Provide an outline of proposed Outreach program and communities to be visited in 7.2 above. Country Regional Centre staff must accompany visiting artists on outreach tours.
8. Rates for Authors and Illustrators
Funding applications should be based on rates as stated by Australian Society of Authors at
ASA Rates and Conditions
NOTE: These are school rates and some authors and illustrators may quote higher rates (as per ASA rates for literary festivals etc or if negotiating with booking agents.) When engaging authors, ensure that all fees and costs are clearly set out and agreed to by both parties in writing or in a contract.
An excerpt from the rates as on the ASA website (as at February 2015):-
Schools (primary and secondary)
Groups of over 120 or with mixed ages may incur an additional charge. Sessions may run for 45-60 mins, to be set by the speaker. Workshops for longer may be negotiated.
· Whole school day (max. 3 sessions) = $600
· Half school day (max. 2 sessions) = $450
· Per school session (max. 1 session) = $300
· Weekly school rate (max. 5 days - average 3 sessions per day) $2500
NB: This discounted rate applies only if the booking is for one school, for a one-week block.
Travel & Expenses
Travel, accommodation and meal expenses should be reimbursed in accordance with the Australian Tax Office’s (ATO’s) reasonable travel and overtime meal allowance expense amounts. Please note that these expenses are outlined on the ATO website, link on the ASA website ASA Travel Expenses ATO TD 2010/19
Car expenses will be paid at the ATO’s rates for deductions using the cents per kilometre method. In the 2010-11 income year, for ordinary cars the rates are 63 cents per kilometre (1600cc engine capacity), 74 cents (1601 to 2600cc) and 75 cents (over 2600cc). • Allowance for travel time (2-6 hours) per hour $50 • More than 6 hours travel time per day $300

Please find attached an Expression of Interest form to apply for funding for Children’s Book Week (CBW) 2015. Annually, the WA Branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) offers small grants to assist public libraries and other arts agencies to conduct programs during Children’s Book Week. For more information about the aims of the CBCA and CBW go to wa.cbca.org.au This funding is provided by the State Government of Western Australia through the Department for Culture and the Arts, Healthway Go for 2&5 and the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA WA Branch).
Funding Criteria
All applications will be assessed by committee members and considered according to the following criteria:-
· applicant organisations must be institutional members of the Children’s Book Council of Australia WA Branch (or willing to become a member). See the website for details http://wa.cbca.org.au/wajoin.htm
· financial contribution by the local authority towards the cost of the program.
· quality and diversity of the program offered.
· anticipated audience and initiatives aimed at reaching new audiences.
· successful applicants must comply with sponsorship requirements.
· the application should address each point, be no longer than two A4 pages in length (not including attachments) and
· be received by post or email to the CBCA WA Branch
