Unit One

Core Knowledge For Aesthetic Practice

UNIT ASSIGNMENT

UNIT ONE – CORE KNOWLEDGE FOR AESTHETIC PRACTICE - ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

Your written assessment schedule for this unit is comprised of:

  • Your completion of your unit folder to include making additional notes from the audio commentary and answering short questions (marked by a blue question mark)
  • Completion of the modular Multiple Choice Tests – 70% pass mark
  • Completion of the ‘Blue Box’ tasks and research exercises which are explained in your course folder and by the audio commentary.

All of these exercises must be completed in your own words and submitted to your course tutor either digitally on your memory stick or in hard copy (Refer to your Student Handbook for full instructions)

You will be completing Unit One Assignment as an ongoing process as you progress through the e-learning programme.

The ‘Blue Box’ Tasks

Each of the tasks that make up the Assignment are presented in a blue text box as below:

Digital Assignment Folder

The easiest and most convenient way of compiling and submitting your Unit One Modular Assignment Tasks is in digital form as this way you can simply email them to your course tutor for marking.

For the purpose of organizing your completed work we have provided you with a set of digital folders for each Unit with sub folders in which you can store your completed Assessment Workbooks, Assignments and Case Studies. These digital folders can be which can be downloaded from the Student Loaning Zone on

For the Core Knowledge Assignment there are subfolders for the tasks from each module and a header sheet to inset at the front of each task. Following this system you will easily compile your work in a presentable form for your portfolio but please contact your course tutor if you have any difficulty.

Complete each task in Word Format and copy and paste the appropriate Header Sheet at the front of your work and then be sure to save it. The audio commentary will also tell you to store a hard copy of each task in your course folder for easy reference.

Hard Copy AssignmentFolder

If you wish to submit your assignment in hard copy you will need to put together a file with Dividers labeled by module and insert your each task with the header sheet within the appropriate section.

Speak to your tutor for further guidance if required.

Tasks Completed within your Course Folder

Where tasks are embedded into your course folder you will be able to reference their location in your main assignment portfolio so that your tutor and the CIBTAC examiner can find them easily.

However, wherever possible it is preferable that you make an additional copy for you Assignment Folder, whether this be digital or hard copy, so that most or all of your work is contained within one place

PLEASE NOTE

All work completed in hard copy must be photocopied and sent by recorded delivery to your course tutor. You must also provide a stamped addressed envelope for the return postage, which should again be by recorded delivery .

Listed in the following pages are the ‘Blue Box’ tasks for each Module of Study as applicable. Each has been numbered for ease of recognition and cataloguing in your portfolio

SUBMITTING YOUR CORE KNOWLEDGE ASSIGNMENT FOR MARKING

In order to submit your work for marking you must do one of the following:

OPTION 1

Submit all work in soft copy form using the digital folder system provided in the Student Zone on Use the front header sheets, which are labeled with the task number, as the front page to each piece of work. When complete you can then email your work to your course tutor for marking.

OPTION 2

Submit all work in a hard copy Assignment Folder. In this case you must supply a ring binder folder with dividers labeled with the Module Number and Section. Use the header sheets available on the Student Zone as the front title page so that each task is clearly labeled. Please refer to the instruction for photocopying and posting this work to your tutor for marking – these instructions are outlined at the beginning of this assignment brief.

OPTION 3

Submit some work digitally and some in hard copy. If you wish to combine hard copy work with digitally saved work then you must compile a digital AssignmentFolder as in Option 1. Where a task is supplied in hard copy you must indicate on the header sheet that this is in a “hard copy Assignment folder giving the page reference” Your hard copy task must then be stored and catalogued in the same way as in Option 2
