Get Healthy Now participants Amy Purcell, Renee Booker, Tom Sensabaugh, Sarah Frankel and Ill Barrow are among many of our employees who have reported success in making healthy choices. Booker received the Lifestyle Change Award from the American Heart Association Heart Walk in 2008 for becoming active, losing weight and taking charge of her diabetes to the point that she no longer has to take insulin.

2) Heart Association recognizes UofL for health promotion

The American Heart Association has named UofL a Gold Award "fit friendly employer" for the third straight year. The designation recognizes workplaces that give employees access to healthier choices during the workday, including physical activity opportunities, food selections and educational opportunities. Get Healthy Now, with support from President James Ramsey and Office of Community Engagement, applies annually for the designation on behalf of the university.

3) Get Healthy Now Program enhances academic experience for students through the….

Wellness Coaching Program for students: This program is offered through the College of Education and Human Development, Health and Sport Science Department. A partnership with WellCoaches® (see attached flyer) enables students to be educated by a leader in the coaching industry. UofL is the first university to use the official wellness coaching text for this course. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to apply skills learned in the class room to a real-life setting though a partnership with the Get Healthy Now Program. Thewellness coaching program enriches the academic experience and increases post graduate marketability. This is evident in the prior students who are now currently working in the health industry in various capacities. The experiences gained from the wellness coach program enabled them to secure employment upon graduation. The Get Healthy Now program has been instrumental in building the wellness coach program and is proud to support university students in the ultimate goal of obtaining employment uponsuccessful completion of their academic studies.
