Applying for an Occupational License with e-Application (e-App)
It is strongly recommended that you read the requirements for the license you are applying for before starting your e-Application.
Omitting necessary information and/or paperwork will result in delays in processing your application.
What is e-Application?
e-Application (e-App) is the online version of a paper licensing application. All applications must be received, reviewed, and approved by TCEQ prior to registering for the corresponding exam. Using e-App, your application, if complete with no deficiencies, will be approved in approximately 6-8 weeks.
What Do I Need to Do to Complete an e-Application?
· Review the requirements for your specific license to make sure you have met all the necessary qualifications.
· Complete the following documents and have them ready to submit electronically.
o Criminal History Notification form (Required for all applicants)
o License and Registration specific documentation which may be required by the license type (such as supplemental forms, affidavits, etc). If you don't supply all the required documents with your online application, it may be delayed or denied. Please note: if submitting school/college transcripts, we need an official copy. We cannot accept online screen print outs.
o Military Exemption Affidavit (If you are claiming a military exemption) and military records (DD-214 or DD-220)
· Submit payment via e-Pay, our electronic payment system, with a Credit/Debit card, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or ACH one-time payment (electronic check). All licenses available on e-App require a fee of $111.00.
o If you have already paid the license fee(s) using ePay, please have your voucher numbers available as these will have to be entered into e-App.
o Retain the voucher number(s) received after payment is completed on e-Pay.
o You can pay at any time, however you will need the voucher number to submit your e-Application. (Required for all non-exempt applicants.)
· Complete the online application using e-App.
When Paying with a Paper Check, Money Order or Inter-agency Transfer Voucher (ITV)
Please use e-App whenever possible, however if you must submit a paper check, money order, or ITV (Inter-agency Transfer Voucher - only available for state agencies), you can request a paper application that can be filled out and mailed to the TCEQ with your payment. You can email a request for a paper application to mailto: and include the following statement in the body of the email: "Please email me an application for [license type] so I may submit my payment via paper check, money order or ITV." Don't forget to include the license type in your request. Paper applications will be processed in approximately 8-10 weeks, if they are complete with no deficiencies.
Qualifications Tab
On the Qualifications tab in e-App, only list the training required to obtain the license that is not showing on your TCEQ training record on the TCEQ Search Licensing or Registration Information web page.
Renewals
If you need to renew an existing license, please visit our License and Registration Online Renewal web page. Renewals are not available through e-Application.

Information about e-Application
Pre-Approval
Before you can register for an exam, an application, fee and required documents must be submitted and approved. You will receive an approval letter in the mail. After you receive your approval letter, visit our Exam Schedule and Registration web page for information on registering for your exam. Bring the approval letter with you when you take the exam.
Conditional Approval
· A conditional approval is an option if you:
· are only missing one required course;
· have no deficiencies;
· and intend to take the exam immediately following the required course at a location where the TCEQ is proctoring the exams.
When you apply, you'll need proof of the last course registration confirmation and the location and date of the exam being offered.
Application Processing Time
Allow approximately 6-8 weeks from date of receipt for us to review your application. If approved, you will receive an approval letter by mail and instructions on how to register to take an exam.
If a deficiency is found in the application packet, you will also receive a letter and will have 120 days to clear the deficiency.
Valid Length of Time of an Approved Application
The application becomes void either after one year from the date of application or after the fourth unsuccessful attempt of the same exam, whichever occurs first. If an application becomes void, before you may take the same exam again, you'll need to submit a new fee and a new application.
Applying Multiple Application Fees at Once
Using ePay you may submit one payment for multiple individuals and receive voucher numbers to apply to individual applications. For example, one payment for $333 can be for three different individuals ($111 applied to each person), which would generate three separate voucher numbers.
