Hi Folks,

This is the fifth newsletter of 2016. Since we are only a month away, the main purpose of this edition is to let you know the details of the upcoming recertification clinic we will be hosting in Parker on November 12th. The clinic will take place at the Charles Schwab Office Campus in Parker from 0900-1200 on November 12, 2016. Final details on parking and entrance to the building will be sent out as we get closer to the date. The area is very easy to find:

From I-25

Exit 193 (Lincoln Avenue)

West to Park Meadows Blvd. (1st light west of I-25)

South on Park Meadows Blvd to Schwab Way (1st light)

Enter the parking lot via Schwab Way on your right.

We will have details on where to park and what building entrance to use in a couple of weeks. Until then, please read the attached notice to find out all of the other details.

The clinic will consist of:

Some legal stuff we have to put in

A review of any rules updates as we know at this time

Links to the new tests – online this year

A brief video presentation on officiating on the track

A clinic session on the field events in the Atrium

An optional SafeSport video presentation for anyone that has yet to fulfill this requirement.

I’ll bring water and some cookies or snacks for the morning, and we will be out in time for you to get lunch.

As I stated in the last newsletter, we are always in need of new, enthusiastic officials. If you have any friends, family members, or coworkers interested in becoming officials please bring them out to the clinic. We should have plenty of room at the venue in Parker, and the recertification clinic can also be used to train new officials. If possible, let our Certification Chair Rich Schornstein or our Training Coordinator Lee Richardsknow in advance so we can have plenty of copies of the training materials on hand.

Upcoming Events - Local

A complete listing of localYouthandMastersevents can be found by selecting the links. This year Colorado is hosting the Region X Cross Country Championships on November 19th in Fountain. We need to put our best foot forward as an Association and make sure this event goes off without a hitch for all of the athletes that will be coming here from not only all over Colorado, but from multiple neighboring states as well. Please let Don Sinclairor Dave Kemman if you can help. In addition, the complete calendar of upcoming Colorado events is on the USATF Colorado webpage. Look there first to find meets in your area. We can always use the help – the athletes and coaches appreciate the expertise you bring to the table, and the coaches especially appreciate being able to do their job as coaches without having to help run the events.

Championship Officiating Opportunities

As a Colorado official, there are plenty of opportunities to work local and regional conference championship meets for NCAA D1 and D2 schools. Applications for several conference, regional, and national championships meets can be found on the USATF Colorado Officials’ webpage. Please take a look there first when you are setting your schedule for the year. These meets can use good officials, so give them your consideration.

In conclusion

We will continue to add links for applications to meets as they become available to our USATF Colorado Officials’ tab on the USATF Colorado webpage. There is also a link to the National Official’s page where you can find events needing officials all across the country (scroll down to Officiating Opportunities). Please keep in mind that our Youth, Masters, and Open divisions can all use your help at meets all over the state, and I hope to see you at a meet somewhere soon!
