Objectives: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of sterile field.

2. Identify guideline of sterile technique.

3. Demonstrate methods of surgical asepsis.

4. Recognize the role of an autoclave for sterilization.

5. Explain why wrapping, sterility indicators, and autoclave tape are used.

SWBAT: 1. Describe a sterile field.

2. Identify guidelines for working in a sterile field.

3. Explain how to properly handle a sterile package.

4. Distinguish between sterile and non-sterile gloves.

5. Describe when sterile gloves should be worm.

6. Describe how autoclaving sterilizes instruments and equipment.

7. Explain how an autoclave should be cleaned.

6. Complete Health Center 21 Sterile Technique and review Bloodborne Pathogen.

7. Complete Sterile Technique quiz and module exam.

Lesson Activities: Students will complete the chain of infection handout and turn-in.

Differentiation: Students with difficulties will be given extra time and material according to their needs

Students will work in a team concept.

Logistics: computers (Health Center 21, Google translate, online resources) and Diversified Health Occupations, 6th edition (checked out for homework assignment). Class book can be checked out from school bookroom before and after school, also during lunchtime.

Homework: Complete worksheets and quizzes before moving to the next module.

Review all materials before schedule presentation.
