Coaching/Referral Support
Founded in 2003, Milestones Autism Resources improves the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum by educating, coaching and connecting the autism community with evidence-based information. We envision a community in which individuals on the autism spectrum reach their full potential as contributing members of society, recognized for their strengths and supported in their challenges. Each year, Milestones serves more than 3,000 parents, professionals, and individuals of all ages and abilities, through an annual conference, trainings, teen/adult services and coaching. The website milestones.org connects 50,000 unique visitors to more than 1,000 autism resources.
Job Description: The Coaching/Referral Support will work within a team structure, supervised by the Teen Adult Services Manager.
· Coach and refer individuals, parents and professionals
o Answer calls and emails seeking autism-related questions and knowledgeable advice.
o Help people to plan, prepare, and prioritize to meet short and long-term needs.
o Compile resources and recommendations. Discuss options and referrals.
o Common topics include:
§ Concerns related to a new diagnosis
§ School and IEP issues
§ Challenging behaviors
§ Social and recreational opportunities
§ Therapy service providers
§ Employment
§ Transition to adult services
§ Funding and insurance
o Document though case notes and follow-up at regular intervals
· Develop resources
o Contribute answers to Frequently Asked Questions on website and in newsletter
o Assist in development of tool kits for online resources
· Develop materials such as visual supports and handouts
· Other Duties as specified
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Public Health or related field is required.
· 2-5 years relevant work experience
· Excellent written and verbal communication, computer, problem solving, interpersonal skills.
· Experience working with families and consumers with ASD
· Experience coaching and making presentations
· Travel to local agencies may be required
