Democratic Society Promotion (DSP) project, financed by Swiss Cooperation Office Kosovo (SCO-K) and managed by Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF), aims to support the development of democratic society in Kosovo through supporting initiatives, projects or activities arising from civil society, but also from academic institutions and professional organisations with a potential to contribute to significant changes in society at national and local level.

In order to promote successful initiatives which have contributed towards developing a democratic society in Kosovo, DSP awards distinguished individuals or organizations/entities in each of its programmatic field.

DSP invites all interested to nominate persons or organisations (including civil society organizations, formal and non-formal networks, media, academic institutions and independent agencies) which they consider to have outstanding achievements in any of the following fields:

·  Increase citizen participation and improve transparency and accountability of Kosovar institutions.

·  Improve inter-ethnic coexistence and the integration of non-majority communities in a multi-ethnic Kosovo.

·  Advance gender equality in Kosovo.

To be eligible for the DSP Award 2012, the nominees (an individual or organization) must meet the following criteria:

·  Be committed to open and democratic society.

·  Be independent of any political party or governmental affiliation.

·  Nominated organizations must be still active.

·  Self-nominations by organizations or individuals are eligible.

·  Organizations that have received DSP funds are not eligible.

All nominations will be considered on individual basis and evaluated by the Grants and Awards Board (GAB) of DSP, based on the following criteria:

·  Design and implementation of a successful initiative (approach, activity, project etc.) in one of the DSP programmatic fields in the period between 2008-2011;

·  Impact of the initiative;

·  Innovative capacity of initiative;

·  Potential of the initiative for up-scaling/replication or mainstreaming;

·  Demonstration of strong accountability mechanisms used to receive community buy-in;

·  Creative partnerships in achieving its goal and coordination with other development actors. These partnerships may include public and/or private sector organizations.

The awards will be delivered during the special DSP Awards Ceremony 2012, which will be organized in June 2012. The winners in each category will be awarded with a special monetary prize.

The Nomination Form and other information can be downloaded from the DSP website www.kcsfoundation.org/dsp. The deadline for nominations is 27th of March 2012, at 12:00 o’clock. Nomination Form and other supporting documents should be submitted to KCSF offices (Fazli Grajqevci 4/A, Prishtinë) or e-mailed to . Only shortlisted nominees will be contacted.


INFORMATION ON COMPLETING THE NOMINATION PROCESS

In order to complete the Nomination Process, please make sure that you fill in and submit the following documents:

1.  The completed and signed Nomination Form

2.  A curriculum vitae of the nominee or a profile of an organization

3.  Supporting documentation such as articles written about the nominee, references etc.

4.  For Civil Society Organizations, a copy of the Certificate of Registration

5.  For other entities, a copy of the Establishing Document or equivalent

Only the completed nominations will be evaluated. Only the shortlisted nominees will be contacted.
