Selection Process -Vacancy Announcement

The Selection Committee appointed by the Ambassador of Brazil in Ottawa, in the exercise of its functions, informs that applications will be accepted from 20October to 2November 2015, for 1 (one) vacancy of HouseholdStaff(cleaning, doing the laundry, ironing, serving and helping in the kitchen if necessary) at the Ambassador’s Residence, within the terms of Decree 1,570 of 21July 1995, and in accordance with the Administrative Ruling of the Minister for Foreign Relations of12 September 1995.

2. According to present legislation, when applying the candidate must:

I. provide evidence of legal residence in Canada as well as to be legally entitled to take full time paid employment for an undetermined length of time(in accordance with the local legislation);

II. provide a copy of an official identity card or passport containing a photograph and the date of birth in order to prove the candidate is older than 18 (eighteen) years old;

III. present a doctor’s note stating that he/she is physically and mentally fit to work;

IV. present a criminal records check;

V. submit an updated Resumé(CV) with the following necessary information: full name, address, telephone and e-mail address;

VI. (in case of Brazilian male candidates) present military service certificate or exemption from duties of the military service;

VII. (in case of Brazilian nationals) present “voting compliance record” - which can be obtained at the ‘Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE)’ website;

VIII. (in case of Brazilian nationals) provide a signed statement that the applicant does not hold a post, an employment or is in public service in Brazil.

3. Brazilian candidates with dual citizenships will not be able to use this condition to exempt themselves from the instructions above (art. 2 VI, VII and VIII).

4. No applicant has the right to claim that he/she was unaware of the present instructions. There will not be conditional application. Applications will only be accepted if all documents are provided.

5. The candidate chosen for the vacancy of HouseholdStaff will work 40 hours per week. The staff member might be required to work extra hoursdue to exceptional circumstances. Overtime will be compensated by free time (either hours or days), agreed between the parties, authorized and properly recorded.

6. There will be a single remunerated probation period of three months.

7. The monthly salary will be CAN$ 2.300,00 (two thousand three hundred Canadian dollars).

8. The terms of employment will be regulated by Canadian laws.

9. The applications, along with all the requested documents, must be submittedbetween 20 October to 2 November 2015. The applications can:

NOTES: i) Applications will only be accepted if received in the above mentioned period; ii) the candidates who choose to mail their documents should have this in mind and take the appropriate steps to assure that the documents will arrive at the Embassy on time.

10. The Embassy will not accept late applications.

11. The selection procedure will be held in 2 phases: (i) examination of submitted documents and Resumé; and (ii)interviews.

12. For the position the Committee will take into consideration the candidates’ experience and skills in the work routines of a household (such as cleaning, doing the laundry and ironing, table and cocktail service, and eventual experience in helping in the kitchen). The candidates must show flexibility and the disposition to work in all the activities related to running a household.

13. The result of the first phase of the selection process will be announced on the Embassy’s website, on 3November 2015. Successful applicants will be invited to the interviews.

14. The date for interviews will be duly informed. The shortlisted applicants invited to attend the interviews must bring the originals of all the documents presented when first applying. The candidate must present himself/herself carrying an identity document, 15 minutes before the scheduled timefor the interview.

15. The submission of the application implies that the applicant is aware and accepts the terms and deadlines established in this announcement. The applicant that makes a false or inexact statement may have his/her job application withdrawn.

16. The results of the selection process will be posted at the site of the Embassy. All candidates will be notified by e-mail of the conclusion of the selection process.

17.The applicant who is chosenfor the position must present himself/herself to the Administration Section of the Embassy to sign the contract of employment. If theapplicant cannot take his/her post immediately or on a mutually acceptable date as soon as possible, he/she will be excluded from the selection procedure. In this case, the Embassy will call the next candidate in the ranking of the selection process, and so on and so forth.

18. Unforeseen situations that may arise will be judged by the Selection Committee.
