Digital Business Development Manager

Our Specialist Subject Matter Expert (SSME) portfolio brings together highly focused events in topics areas like Maritime, Energy, Human Resources, Research and Innovation. The portfolio includes market leading events such as the world’s largest environmental shipping event, Green Ship Technology, the leading Insights conference, TMRE, featuring speakers like Malcolm Gladwell, and the largest HR event in the Middle East, HR Summit in Dubai, with over 5,000 attendees. With team members based in Dubai, London and New York, this is a truly global portfolio.
We are creating year round connections with our customers by increasingly adding digital products to our event-based product portfolio. Examples of this in SSME are the HR Observer Blog, our Future Trends LinkedIn community with 0.5m members and our Destination Innovation eNewsletter with over 5,000 dedicated subscribers. However, we know we could do much more.
We are therefore now looking to accelerate our growth in digital media and currently have a job opening for an experienced, successful media sales person in our main London office.Reporting directly into the Global Media Sales Director, this role will not only lead from the front in terms of sales activity but will also play a strategic role in driving the digital product development roadmap.
As a key member of the SSME Commercial Leadership team, this person will be expected to take a lead on defining the ideal digital media product menu for the key elements of the SSME portfolio and then ensuring that all we are set up for successful delivery of those products. Working with colleagues from Event Sales, digital media pipelines will be refined and enhanced, with new ways of working established across the network of sales people. Opportunities to sell digital and media in integrated packages with our event products must be explored.

Responsibilities
- Play an active role advising the SSME Leadership Team on developments in Digital Media, ensuring it plays a major role in future growth of the vertical
- Work with the Chief Revenue Officer and the Global Media Sales Director to develop core digital media products, high quality collateral and a strategic pricing framework
- Work specifically with the event brand/topic leads to develop (andthen sell) effective and high return integrated digital campaigns with custom opportunities, digital solutions and event sponsorships
- Use these campaigns and the relationships that can be established off the back of them to drive retention and growth with existing client base, working with the Key Account Directors as appropriate
- Work with senior Sales and Marketing colleagues in SSME to research new prospective digital client pools, and then follow-up on leads identified, tracking opportunities and conversion rates to refine lead generation activity
- Demonstrate a high level of pro-activity, maintaining a busypersonal schedule of face-to-face appointments and prospecting calls
- Manage your own sales activity and pipeline to meet revenue targets and company goals, ensuring that support from other areas of the business – marketing, editorial, programme management - is sufficient to help you meet your goals
- Serve as an example of Digital Media Sales best practice for your colleagues, also providing training and guidance as needed
Qualifications/Capabilities
- Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
- 4-5 years+digital/media/publishing sales experience
- Experience of having helped develop/launch new products in the market
- Proven track record of exceeding set goals and quotas
- Strong track record of bringing in new business
- Entrepreneurial and independent
- Willing to be creative, flexible, and have a passion for learning new things
- Broad understanding of the trends in digital media and sales overall
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written, as well as strong presentation skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced sales environment
- Highly responsive and customer-focused
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Salesforce
