NDR-UK is the leading diet and nutrition information service provider in the UK. We publishdiet and health information written by expert dietitians for the public with a portfolio of around200 different resources. Most of our resources are sold to health professionals to use in consultations with patients/public. The resources aim to reinforce messages and remind patients/public about dietary choices, changes and management to help prevent, treat and manage different health conditions.

The Post

We are looking to recruit a temporary Project Development Officer to work closely with our Business Development Manager and assist in delivering key business plan objectives. The main project for 2017/18 will be the introduction of patient information in electronic formats. Further details about the role are shown in the job description in Appendix 1.

Appendix 1: Job Description

Position: Project Development Officer
Reports to: Business Development Manager (BDM)
Contract Period: 15 hours per week, 12-month contract (May 2017 to April 2018)
Job Purpose: To support the achievement of business plan objectives for introducing new products to our portfolio, particularly focussing on the development of patient information in electronic formats
Key Responsibilities / Associated Tasks
To assist the delivery of the project development plan for the introduction of electronic diet and nutrition patient resources. /
  • Market research/testing
  • Contribute to the design of approaches to market research
  • Conduct market research exercises, such as surveys, face-to-face demonstrations/interviews, customer trials
  • Compile and analyse data and research findings
  • Recommend technical amendments based on findings
  • Contribute to business model based on research findings
  • Marketing/Communications for product launch
  • Contribute to development of marketing/ communications plans
  • Assist in delivery of marketing/communications activities
  • Build portfolio of online products from existing printed resource content

To assist with development of new, and reviewsof current, diet and nutrition patient resources. /

General /
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by the Business Development Manager or Chief Executive

Working Relationships:
INTERNAL: Reports to Business Development Manager, working with all team members
EXTERNAL: Customers and end-users of products, MTC (technical contractor), other partners such as British Dietetic Association, Scottish Government, third sector organisations, etc.

Appendix 3: Summary of Principal Terms and Conditions of Employment

This is a summary of the main conditions of service that NDR-UK follows as they relate to the post of Project Development Officer. This is not a definitive list of all terms and conditions of service. Further information will be provided on successful appointment.

Location

Suite 238/9, Baltic Chambers, 50 Wellington Street, Glasgow, G26HJ.

Probationary Period

The post will be subject to a probationary period of 3 months and where there is an assessment of satisfactory performance at the end of the probationary period the post will be continued.

Contract duration and Working hours

This is a part-time post of 15 hours per week/65 hours per month, for a period of 12 months (May 2017 to April 2018). Working hours/days are flexible and can be arranged to mutual benefit but within the parameters of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Salary/Payment

The salary for this post will be £20,020 per annum (pro-rata), equivalent to £11.00 per hour

Salary is paid on the 28th of each calendar month.

Pension

NDR-UK offers a 4% contributory pension scheme.

Time Off in Lieu (TOIL)

Overtime is not paid but time of in lieu (TOIL) can be arranged.

Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlement is 28 days, pro-rata, inclusive of 8 days for bank/public holidays. The office is closed on 25th and 26th December and 1st and 2nd January (or their substitute days) and we will require you to take these days as part of your paid annual holiday entitlement. The office is open on all other public holidays and if you wish to take any of these days you are required to request a holiday from your annual entitlement.

Sickness Payments

In addition to our obligation to make payment of statutory sick pay (SSP), you are entitled to receive contractual sick pay as follows:

Length of Service at the first day of sickness/absence / Number of weeks full pay / Number of weeks half pay
Less than one years’ service / 1 (15 hours) / 1 (15 hours)

These entitlements are the maximum you may receive in any single rolling 12-month period. These entitlements are based on a five-day working week (35 hours per week). If you are a part-time employee, you will receive a pro-rata entitlement. Payment is conditional on proper adherence to our sickness reporting procedures.
