B. Summary of SUS Airfreight Course in 2003-2004

For the year of 2003-2004, HAFFA has conducted with the cooperation of Carrier Liaison Group the SUS Airfreight courses for our Industry: There are total 6 classes with attendants of 186. With the enthusiastic support by our members and the industry, the registration was still full within a short period of time. This year, we are planning to organize 6 classes subject to the funding from Government.

C. New course/program held in 2003-2004

1)Cargo Security Training (Regulated Agent Regime) Course

To meet with the requirements of the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) “Training on Regulated Agent Regime”, each RA is to ensure that their staff are engaged in handling international cargo are provided with sufficient training. CAD required at least one staff member attended a training programme acceptable to the CAD commencing in 2005, and at least two staff in 2006. The HAFFA/CLG training committee therefore has had various meetings with the CAD aiming to develop the captioned training programme consists of initial training in procedures as well as practical understanding in their daily duties. The CAD has reviewed and endorsed the subject programme plus related training materials recently. The Cathay Pacific Airways Limited is appointed to be the course service provider and the first class was commenced successfully on 4th March 2004. We have planned a total of 39 classes from March to June this year (more classes to come from July onwards) and with the enthusiastic support by our members and the industry, the registration for the 11 classes with 330 students were full within a short period of time.

D. Advanced Level for Airfreight/ Logistics Course

Logistics management is no longer limited to those engaged in trading and export companies but is affecting virtually every business sector. In future, the CLG/HAFFA Training Committee will determine the training need and design training programme in advanced levels. That means besides the fundamental concepts of logistics and airfreight operations, members can stay competitive in supply chain management such as components of logistics systems, managing logistics resources and new developments in IT logistics.
