JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE:Catering Assistant

SALARY:£7.52 per hour, 39 working weeks plus holiday entitlement

HOURS OF WORK:Monday to Friday inclusive, term time only inclusive of INSET days

REPORTS TO: T(n)S Catering Chef Manager

OUTLINE OF THE ROLE: pose of job

  • The key objective is to assist in provisions of healthy and nutritionally compliant hot meals to pupils/students
  • The jobholder’s main aims and objectives are to assist in the practical side of preparing, cooking and cleaning down after service, also to ensure storage of supplies is correct and in line with Healthy and Safety legislation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with any food preparation at the catering manager’s request
  • Serve food maintaining high quality standards of food and food presentation, while ensuring produce is kept within the acceptable temperature range and that this is recorded. Maximise the visual impact of food at the point of service, regularly checking the front counters and displays.
  • Ensure the pupil experience is as pleasant as possible through good customer service practice
  • Help to ensure wastage is minimised without a reduction in quality and any concerns about food production are reported to catering manager immediately
  • Assist the catering manager in planning monthly theme days and promotions to drive sales and keep customers engaged.
  • Wash crockery, cutlery and pans and ensure all cooking areas and kitchen is clean meeting the correct standards. Record cleaning on weekly cleaning schedule
  • Report mechanical defects to your line manager or to the client using the relevant channels
  • Be responsible for ensuring Food Safety, Hygiene and Health Safety Standards are met in the kitchen, including reporting shortfalls. Ensure proper standards of cleanliness.
  • Ensure kitchen is secure at the end of each day
  • To undertakepersonal development including child protection trainingand any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
  • Assist in maintaining a strong client relationship between T(n)S Catering Management and Bridgewater Primary School
  • Any other reasonable request from management

In line with the ‘Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers (2016)’; applicants must have adequate fluency in English to ensure effective performance in this role.
