Canada Summer Games 2005
August 6–13, 2005
Regina, Saskatchewan - Last Mountain Lake Sailing Club
Team Ontario will be comprised of 8 sailors sailing the following classes:
23 & Under Double - Male: 29er
23 & Under Double - Female: 29er
23 & Under Single - Male: Laser
23 & Under Single - Female: Radial
19 & Under Single - Male: Radial
19 & Under Single - Female: Byte
To be eligible to represent Team Ontario in the 23 & Under events athletes must be 23 & Under as of December 31, 2005. (Date of Birth: January 1, 1982 or later)
To be eligible to represent Team Ontario in the 19 & Under events athletes must be 19 & Under as of December 31, 2005. (Date of Birth - January 1, 1986 or later)
Excluded from the Canada Games are:
· Athletes that have been National Senior Team Members at any time.
· Athletes that have held Senior 1, Senior 2 cards (as defined by Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program) at any time.
· Athletes that have competed for any nation at any Pan American Games or Olympic Games.
Please note that Canadian Sailing Team athletes carded with a Training Center card are eligible to compete in the Canada Games.
No athlete can be rendered ineligible within 90 days of the opening of the Games due to carding status or national team status.
Qualifiers
The Canada Summer Games Qualifiers will be held Spring 2005. The qualification process for the 23 & Under classes is slightly different than for the 19 & Under classes:
23 & Under Qualifiers:
Those athletes wishing to qualify for a 23 & Under event must attend the following Canada Summer Games Qualifying Regattas:
· Lilac Festival
- Royal Hamilton Yacht Club
- May 14-15, 2005
· Icebreakers
- Toronto Sailing & Canoe Club
- May 21-22, 2005
The combined scores of these two regattas will be used to determine the 23 & Under Sailing representatives of Ontario at the Canada Summer Games. The Icebreakers results will be multiplied by two, this gives a larger weighting to the second event.
19 & Under Qualifier:
Those athletes wishing to qualify for a 19 & Under event must attend the following Canada Summer Games Qualifying Regatta:
