Job title:FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Job location:Head Office
Responsible to:Development Manager
Overall purpose:
-Contribute towards the overall income target and ensure the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
-Write inspiring and successful applications to new and current UK and international trusts.
-Act as the key account manager for current and new trust, including the production of excellent update reports, to develop and secure long-term relationships.
-Work with the team to develop new concepts and proposals which add value to services for children and young people.
-Assist with the writing of bids, tenders and applications for statutory funding.
-Identify new trust opportunities to diversify funding and develop the organisation.
-Support the development team with design of new services
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trusts and foundations relationship specialist
1.1To lead on developing proactive and responsive relationships with trusts and foundations.
1.2Keeps up to date with sector knowledge about trust and foundation techniques, resources and donor trends, and shares knowledge and expertise with colleagues across St Christopher’s where relevant
1.3Generates income by producing tailored proposals and applications and by leading and managing applications by colleagues
1.4Provides excellent stewardship to an agreed portfolio of trusts and foundations
1.5Keeps accurate, up-to-date records of plans and communications with portfolio, in compliance with data protection legislation and best practice
1.6To manage relationships with profitable corporate relationships and manage a corporate foundation database.
2. Development and statutory grants
2.1 To assist the Development Manager with the research and writing of statutory grants, tenders and other applications for funding
2.2 To assist the Development manager with designing new services to meet the needs of young people.
3.General duties
3.1To maintain awareness of the various services of the organisation, their operating environments and funding needs.
3.2To contribute to the aims of the department and wherever possible the wider organisation.
3.3To participate in team meetings, work reviews and other meetings, as required.
3.4To actively participate in supervision and performance appraisal, and undertake relevant training and development opportunities as required.
3.5To be aware of and adhere to all relevant financial procedures and report any discrepancies to your manager immediately.
3.6To adhere to and promote St. Christopher’s Equality and Diversity policy in all aspects of the work and to actively challenge discriminatory practice.
3.7To be aware of health and safety issues and within the area of control implement St Christopher’s Health and safety policy.
3.8To promote and implement all of St Christopher’s policies and procedures and report to a line manager, or other appropriate person, malpractice or evidence which may suggest it.
3.9Ensure that all the work undertaken is conducted to the highest professional standards.
