Position Purpose: / To oversee and manage all staff who work as cleaners and laundry staff to:
·  To ensure the facility is housekeeping services (Cleaning and Laundry) are maintained in accordance with prescribed routines and in line with infection control guidelines and Mercy Health policy and procedures.
·  Actively manager all staff within this area
·  Develop and maintain rosters in cleaning and laundry
·  Actively perform either a cleaning or laundry position whilst undertaking this leadership role
Qualifications: / Previous experience in commercial cleaning work
Previous experience in laundry services
Supervision and mentoring of staff
Resource management: / Total staff management (FTE): / 4 EFT

Perform general domestic duties throughout the facility (if performing a Cleaning role) / ·  Ensure all resident rooms are cleaned thoroughly as per established routines or as required
·  Ensure all public toilets and staff areas are cleaned as per schedules
·  Paper products are at an adequate level in staff, public and resident facilities
·  Ensure duties lists are accurate / up to date
·  High standard of cleaning in the duties performed
·  Participate in reviews of routines and work practices
·  Compliance with Mercy Health policies and procedures
·  Sufficient stock requirements for cleaning / ·  No resident complaints re cleanliness
·  Good feedback on cleanliness from resident survey results
·  No adverse feedback on cleanliness of facility through resident forums, resident / family / visitors
·  Cleaning performed as per schedule and documentation on cleaning schedules maintained
·  All duties performed as per duties lists
·  Internal audits show little remedial action on cleanliness
·  Adherence to Mercy Health policies and procedures
·  Sufficient stock requirements (chemical and materials) are always available for the service
Perform laundry duties for residents’ personal clothing (if performing laundry role). / ·  Perform basic laundry, ironing, sorting and redistribution of clothing as required
·  Duties lists are accurate and up to date
·  Liaise with care staff regarding appropriate naming of clothing items
·  Sufficient stock requirements for laundry / ·  Minimal resident complaints
·  Accreditation compliance in laundry
·  No identified infection outbreak associated with laundry
·  Duties performed as per duties list
·  Minimal clothing items that are not named
·  Sufficient stock requirements (chemical and materials) are always available for the service
Cleaning of laundry (if performing laundry role). / ·  Laundry cleaned each day of use and in accordance with the designated cleaning schedule for the laundry
·  Laundry equipment cleaned in line with manufacturers instructions / ·  Cleaning of laundry carried out each day of use
·  Designated laundry cleaning schedule followed
Supervision of Housekeeping staff. / ·  Cleaning and laundry routines maintained
·  Established rosters for cleaning and laundry services are staffed
·  Cleaning and laundry services documentation is accurate and up to date
·  Staff issues are referred to clinical care coordinator as required / ·  Work schedules are maintained
·  No vacancies in cleaning and laundry rosters
·  Standard 4 documentation requirements are maintained at all times
·  Staff issues are effectively managed
Minimise infection outbreaks. / ·  Infection control guidelines for cleaning and laundry services are followed
·  Appropriate use of chemicals / ·  No infection outbreaks because of poor cleaning standards or laundry practice
Proper adherence to OH&S principles. / ·  Manual handling guidelines followed
·  Manutension training undertaken and refreshed as appropriate
·  Appropriate handling and use of chemicals / ·  No Workcover claims through inappropriate practices
·  No accidents / incidents due to poor work practices or mishandling chemicals or equipment
Appropriate resident documentation at all times. / ·  Provide relevant feedback on resident issues to the appropriate supervisor
·  Assist with resident documentation if required by supervisory staff / ·  ACFI scores maximised
