ISU EXTENSION – GUTHRIE COUNTY
Summer Program Assistant
This is a temporary position (20-40 hours per week) for the 2013 summer season for approximately 8 weeks.
This support positionrequires a positive team player who assists all Extension staff with 4-H procedures and programs to operate a successful 4-H youth development program during the summer program season.
This position is under the direction of the Extension Council. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work hours are variable.
In accordance with ISU Extension Child Protection and Safety Policy, a background check will be conducted. Employment may be terminated immediately if a significant violation is discovered.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Answering telephone, greeting clients, and providing information or appropriate referrals
Assisting with all 4-H activities prior to and at the fair and summer youth development programs
Providing support to Extension staff as requested
Qualifications
1)Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2)Computer skills (Microsoft Word, internet, etc.)
3)Experience in organizing activities, events, and in working with groups
4)Knowledge and experience as a member or volunteer in 4-H preferred
5)Desire to work with youth
6)Self-starter – able to initiate work without direct supervision
7)Good organizational skills
8)Problem-solving skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
9)High School graduate or equivalent, one year of college education preferred
10)Valid driver’s license, access to transportation
