SUPPORTERS CLUB RESTRUCTURE

We have in recent committee meetings discussed the possibility of restructuring the Management Committee to reduce the continually mounting workload and the need to bring in two or three fresh faces to help, learn, grow, develop and understand the workings of the Supporters Club as we are constantly trying to improve and move forward to have a successful Supporters Club. Our ideas will of course be presented for approval next season, and then voted on at the Annual General Meeting.

NOTTINGHAM GROUP - Prospective Supporters Trust

Members of the Nottingham Forest Supporters Club Committee have attended 2 meetings over the last month with regard to the above. Nottingham Evening Post have carried two articles on this and Century Radio have publicized this a great deal with interviews etc with the group concerned. They aim to buy our Football Club due to Forests financial position with help from Supporters Direct (set up by the Government) and wanted Nottingham Forest Supporters Club to be involved. After discussing this at our last Committee Meeting it was decided that at the present time this was not the right time for us to get involved with this project. The following is an extract of the letter sent from Rita Kirk (NFSC General Secretary) to Phil Chambers (PST):

Dear Phil

Thank you for your time, on the evening of Friday 25th January, when we met to discuss our potential involvement with the Prospective Supporters Trust.

I am writing to inform you that after subsequent consideration we do not feel able to offer you any support on behalf of the Nottingham Forest Supporters Club.

Essentially we have reached our decision:

Because we remained unsure of the eventual aims of the proposed trust.

Because we remained unsure of the precise position of the proposed trust with regard to how much money has been pledged or received, conflicting figures have been quoted.

Because we were uneasy about the link with the Independent Executives of the Telecom Plus PLC.

Because our research suggests that the efficacy of Trusts established at other clubs has been greatly overstated and that there is no evidence to suggest a trust can continue to raise funds at a realistic level to finance a football club in the long term.

Because our energies are already committed to providing a representative democratic organisation for supporters of Nottingham Forest, the Nottingham Forest Supporters Club.

Thank you once again for your time.

Yours sincerely

Rita Kirk

General Secretary
