Job Title: Head of Social Enterprise
Accountable to: Chief Executive Officer
  1. JOB PURPOSE
To lead, develop, manage and promote a new Social Enterprise company.
  1. SCOPEOF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, working in conjunction with the Director of Finance to maximise the generation of unrestricted income for Victim Support Scotland (VSS) in line with our vision and mission.
4. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY RESULT AREAS
  • Assist the Director of Finance to re-establish VSS dormant Enterprise company to support the longer term sustainability of VSS and its services to people affected by crime.
  • Devise a business and marketing plan for the enterprise company.
  • Design, implement and manage a new range of programmes/activities through the enterprise company to include a membership and regular donation scheme.
  • Support the expansion of external corporate training liaising with the Learning and Development team to ensure best practice in standards, consistency and materials.
  • Develop a range of ethical sponsorship and partnerships including business and corporate alliance to align with their social impact and VSS values and vision.
  • Design and manage initial expenditure in adherence to VSS processes, systems and financial controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of information required for the Director, CEO and Executive Board.
  • Maintain and develop collaborative team working across all departments in VSS.
  • Develop existing and new external partnerships to promote and enhance the work of VSS.
  • Work with the Senior Management team (SMT) to ensure compliance and develop best practice in the involvement of staff, volunteers and interns in the activities of the Social Enterprise company.
  • Translate ideas from the community or ideas from research into business planning opportunities.
  • Work in conjunction with the Community Engagement and Campaign Manager to ensure alignment of key activities.

5. COMMUNICATIONS
Internal: Chief Executive, Directors, Front line management, staff and volunteers.
External: Partner agencies, potential funders, legal and financial organisations, media contacts, other third sector organisations, corporate sector organisations.
6. QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Technical and Professional Knowledge
  • Recognised Social Enterprise qualification or equivalent (financial, marketing, legal or business). Degree level.
  • Minimum of 3 year’s experience in developing and managing Social Enterprise strategies and plans.
  • Proven experience of generating unrestricted income through consultancy work, affiliate marketing andother social enterprise activities.
  • Experience of supporter development, or coordination of membership schemes is desirable.
  • Proven experience of developing long term income generations strategies.
  • Managing complex projects with tight timescales.
  • Developing marketing and communication strategies and materials.
  • Knowledge and experience of business development and marketing.
  • Experience of producing and managing targeted campaigns.
  • Experience of organising events, event management and managing media relations.
  • Managing and monitoring budgets.
