Magellan Health – Avon, CT April 2014 - September 2016

Senior Vice President, Magellan Federal

Brought on to establish, grow, and position Magellan Federal at the executive and legislative branches of the federal government, DOD, and key federal agencies. Held P&L responsibility for Magellan Health’s $160M business unit that provided behavioral health services to 300+ installations around the globe. Led a team of 1,500 (most with advanced clinical degrees) in 300 locations across 13 countries in the development and execution of organic/inorganic growth strategies that supported the needs of individuals and families dealing with critical behavioral health issues.

·  Unified nine individual federal contracts into a new business unit that focused on rapid revenue growth through new innovative solutions that integrated clinical assets and technology, created a scalable and sustainable common corporate infrastructure.

·  Built pipeline from $0-200M in nine months with recognized organic growth from $130-160M in 24 months.

Directed by the president of the $8B Medicare division, led divisional initiatives focused on operation execution and operating enhancements that interfaced with the office of the CEO and Executive Committee operating model. Oversaw the planning and execution of innovation and strategic planning initiatives, disciplined business practices, integrated reporting, and analytics team activities across the Medicare operating environment.

·  Led the reduction of membership churn by improving the entire value chain from marketing, sales and customer experience for members and caregivers.

·  Increased new membership goals 97% YOY, improved member retention 50% through direct coordination of marketing, sales and operations enrollment initiatives. Created Aetna Medicare’s Command Center that produced real-time analytics, executive dashboards, and reporting for major programs and business continuity.

·  Reduced total cost of member acquisition by 40% by designing and championing the new member engagement strategy and member experience program to grow lifetime value. Identified, mapped and remediated marketing and sales issues resulting in member abrasion.

Held full P&L responsibility for the $140M B2B division with 250 employees. Additional role as the enterprise leader for Healthcare, Government, and Higher Education markets. Served as the Senior Executive in Charge of the Statewide Operational Crisis Management team.

·  Improved operational effectiveness by 30% and reduced customer churn to 1% by identifying inefficiencies and building new procedures that focused on organizational alignment, team building, process improvement and standardization, leading to a Increased revenue performance 4-7% annually in a highly penetrated and competitive market.

·  Worked closely with CXOs at healthcare provider organizations, medical schools, and major universities to create new delivery and monitoring capabilities for chronically ill and aging constituents in both urban and rural underserved communities through emerging telemedicine applications.
