SCOPE OF WORK: Performs responsible clerical duties in the college library involving contact with students and the public in the issuance of library materials. This position works under the direct supervision of the Chief Library Officer at Great Bay Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Performs routine duties in the issuance of books, films, documents, reserve items and other library materials to students and the general public, as well as for inter-library loan.
· Assists in the maintenance of the library space for the efficient operation of the library.
· Assists in answering questions at the circulation desk concerning library procedures, and assists students in helping them with library needs.
· Assists in the processing of new library materials, shelving books, overdue book processing and with the annual inventory.
· Assists in marketing the library and its resources.
· Assists in training work study students at the circulation desk.
· Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience: No experience required. Additional years of related work experience may not be substituted for the formal education required by this class specification.
Licensure/Certifications: None required.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling and vocabulary. Ability to understand and follow instructions and to learn related clerical and library tasks within a reasonable time. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other library personnel and with the public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college.
