Gala Report
Tudor League Round R3 – Saturday 19 March 2016
Last Saturday, 30 of our swimmers returned to Eltham Leisure Centre to compete in Round 3 of the Tudor League. This round saw us able to field a strong team in most age groups.
Swimmers excelled themselves, setting 45 new PB times over the course of the 50 events. Just 1 dis-qualification this time helped us move up the leaderboard again in this gala up from 5th last time to 4th overall. Total team points were down by 1 point, giving us a total of 204 points for Round 3.
On the night, congratulations to all swimmers but in particular to the top point scoring swims. swimmers won 2 x 1st places, 2 x 2nd places and 9 x 3rd places as well as winning 2 further races but swimmers swam too fast so incurred a time fault and no points!
1st Place wins by:
Boys 14 & U medley relay team and Caitlin Ebbage in the 12 & U 50m butterfly.
Excellent 2nd places for:
Holly Geake in 12 & U 50 breaststroke and Kirsty-Anne Ebbage in 14 & U girls breaststroke.
Well fought 3rd places for:
Ashleigh Cox, Thomas Collier, Noemie Thomson, Charlie Curtis, Hannah Morten (twice), 12 & U Girls Medley & Freestyle relays and the Mens Open Freestyle relay.
Time Faults (too fast)! Congratulations also to Dan Brice and Caitlin Ebbage for winning their respective 50m freestyle races. 2 more wins but unfortunately faster than the time band so they incurred time faults and nil points but Dan secured himself a massive PB and 2 new club records in the process.

Most of these 6 relay records smashed the previous club records by huge margins ( a couple were by around 12 seconds) so well done swimmers!
Swimmer/Performances of the Night:
The night saw lots of great performances by all swimmers, 2 swimmers needing first aid treatment poolside after cutting their hands getting out of the pool and one swimming with a sore back. One swimmer arrived slightly late and immediately on arriving onto poolside, with literally 2 seconds to spare, jumped in to swim his leg of the relay. A great team performance that earnt us a well-valued 4th place overall. All swimmers excelled with 27 of the 30 swimmers swimming either a 25m or 50m new Personal best time!
There were many highlights at this gala, but the performances of the night were Erin Nisbet and Dan Brice who both competed in 8 events and helped the club accumulate many crucial team points. Erin set a new 10 years 50m freestyle club record and Dan Brice set 4 new 11 years club records in 25m and 50m in backstroke and freestyle. The most exciting race of the night was the Boys 14 & U medley quartet comprising Dan Brice, Charlie Curtis, Harvey Thatcher and David Starling. The boys battled well for their victory and set an excellent new club record.
A special mention to Olivia Harris for her courage and determination continuing on racing all night (despite being given the choice of pulling out due to a back injury); to Ashleigh Cox for swimming 50m butterfly for the first time in a gala and to Charlie Brice for stepping in at the last minute to fill in for Jack Sharpe in the 50m butterfly.
Well-done to all swimmers and keep up the great work! Round 4 is at Eltham on Saturday 23 April.
