EMPHASIS ITEMS
- NCR PLAYER REGISTRATION FEE:
For teams that choose only to play in the Arrowhead Structure, the four event days & the Queens of the Court tournament, the NCR player registration fee is $10.00 and there is no team fee. This $10.00 fee is for any age group. All adult fees are $35.00.

For teams wishing to play in additional events / tournaments the normal per player, per teamNCRregistration fee would apply.
- WAVE PLAY – PLAY DAYS:
Age groups, when possible, will play in either a morning wave or afternoon wave.
Wave play should reduce the amount of times are required to travel.
A CONCEPTUAL STRUCTURE
An ideal structure for the AVAstructure would be to divide the areainto two divisions; a north and a south. This structure would allow for more competitive play with a wider varietyof teams. Additionally, more emphasis would be placed on team performance. This concept implies that all or most area Junior programs in the Arrowhead area organize and structure within the same timeframe.
- FIRST PLAYING DATE
Teams from within the same division play each other.
- SECOND PLAYING DATE
Teams from with the same division play each other, but move into different pools according to the first playing date.
- THIRD PLAYING DATE
Cross Division Play
- FOURTH PLAYING DATE
Random play structured based on results of the third playing date. This date would determine the top Arrowhead team for all divisions.
The AVASeries Events aresanctioned with (USAV / NORTH COUNTRY REGION (NCR). The geographical regionof the Arrowhead isNorthern Minnesota, Duluth Area andNWWisconsin.
League Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the AJVto provide a positive environment of sportsmanship and competition for team play. The purpose of
AJVis toprovide additional playing and developmental opportunities with a minimum of travel, cost and time commitment.

The dates below are chosen to reduce scheduling conflicts and demands for the multi-sport athletes and to help teams better
prepare for theirjunior tournament season.

3.Eligibility Requirements:
All teams must meet the registration and eligibility requirements of the North County Region. Teams that are not properly registered with the NCR will not be allowed to play. Registration and requirements include:
- Background Screening Requirement
- Individual Membership Registration
- Impact Certification for Coaches
- Player Medical Release form
- Attendance at Junior Officials Clinic – 1 Coach, minimum of 4 players.

5.OFFICIATING:
Officiating guidelines of the NCR will be used. Officials, coaches and players must attend required clinics.
The AJA will attempt to provide first referees for all dates. If officials are provided, admissions will be charged.
Having assigned officials will benefit the players, coaches and parents.
- Officials will provide knowledge of rules and regulations.
- Serve as an educator for players and spectators.
- Will give your team coach a much needed rest.
- Will keep the day of play moving efficiently.
6.LEAGUE FACILITIES / SITES:
League play will be conducted on the IronRange and Duluth / Superior Area. All efforts will be made to minimize travel.
7.SCHEDULING PRACTICE & PROCEDURE:
Play days will be scheduled in the best interests of all teams. One of the goals of the AJA is to offer balanced competitive pools for all age divisions. Pool play results of each week will be considered when scheduling following play days.
8.SCHEDULE OF PLAY:
Playing schedules may not be ready until the Wednesday prior to the league play day. Schedules will be emailed in word document format and/or placed on All teams that register must provide an email address.
Play may be scheduled in waves. This means there may be a early group of teams playing followed late in the day by a
new group of teams. This scheduling practice may offer a better balance in competition and traveling.
9.AJA SERIES STRUCTURE & FORMAT:
Sample structure: (May be revised due to time constraints.)
3 Team Pool / Match, 2 games to 23 pts, teams play each other twice4 Team Pool / Match, 3 games, to 21 points
5 Team Pool / Match, 2 games to 19 points
6 Team Pool / Match, 2 games to 17 points, speed play probability
10.FORFEITS:
If a team fails to show for a scheduled play day they will beassessed a $50.00 forfeitfee. This fee must be paidbefore
participation in remaining play days or events conducted by Dive Sportspluswear.
11.REGISTRATION & PAYMENT:
See League Registration Form. All entries must be received (in-hands)on or before the deadline.
12.ENTRY FEE:
$75.00 per play day.
13.REFUND POLICY:
All entry fees are non-refundable, non-transferable. Refunds will only be issued if the league office cancels league play.
14.ADMISSIONS:
Admissions will be charged when and if officials are used.
THE DAY OF PLAY
1.Play Day Manager / Official
On each play day it will be the responsibility of the team coach / representative to check in with the Play Day (event) Manager. The manager will review schedules of play, team responsibilitiesand facility policies. When officials are provided there will not be a team meeting. Teams simply must at or on courtside for all appropriate time elements.
2.Sportsmanship
All league representatives; coaches, players and spectators are expected to display great sportsmanship. Any spectator
that shows disrespect to league representatives, players, coaches or officiating teams will be ask toleave the facility.
3.Balls
Teams must provide their balls for warm-ups and games.
4.Volleyball Shoes
All players are to change into their volleyball shoes prior to entering the main gyms of play.
5.Team Benches
Only NCRregistered team personnel will be allowed to occupy a seat on the team bench area. (Insurance Standard) Teams are responsible to clean their team bench areas of all water bottles and debrisfollowing their match.
6.First Aid & Safety
Teams are responsible for their own first aid and safety prevention. All emergenciesshould be reported to theplay day manager or community host.
7.Accountability
Any individual damaging or destructing any facility property will be responsible forthe same.
8.Warm-up Periods
Warm-ups for the first scheduled match of a play day will start 25 minutes prior to theschedule starting time.
Warm-upsfor succeeding matches will begin immediately followingthe previously scheduled match. Warm-up
periods and procedures for play days will be identified on each EVENT DATE SCHEDULE.
(Note: The AJA rents facilitieson an hourly basis. Staying on schedule is a must!)
9.Updated Information
Structures and format changes are subject to change. Coaches and / or Club Representatives are responsible to make sure that they are aware of updatedinformation and changes by checking website updates and or emails.

We are looking for officials. Officials will be paid for their services. If you know of someone that would be interested in officiating
or becoming an official please have them contact the league office.
There will be an advanced official’s clinic on December 13, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the GraceLutheranChurch in Hibbing.
