One of the UK’s oldest charities, Hannahs is dedicated to empowering children, young people and adults with physical and learning disabilities, providing them with life-changing opportunities and advocating their needs. Based across two sites in Devon – at Ivybridge, about 11 miles from Plymouth and at our 90 acre site at Seale-Hayne on the outskirts of Newton Abbot – Hannahs provides learning, care, support and real choice to children and adults with a range of disabilities. A dedicated and highly trained team of staff help our service users and guests, at both sites, grow and learn with confidence and freedom.
ROLE OF HEAD OF FUNDRAISING
Hannahs is currently seeking a Head of Fundraising, to work in close collaboration with the Director of Development, in crafting and implementing a comprehensive development and fundraising strategy for the organisation, and to lead the fundraising team. This is an exciting and rewarding role for someone who is experienced in raising funds for large initiatives via multiple donor channels and who thrives in a collaborative, fast paced environment and has a track record of exceeding targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will involve working with the Director of Development in overseeing and executing on a comprehensive fundraising plan, including, but not limited to:
· Qualify and prioritise funding targets and approaches
· Grow the income to ensure the sustainability and growth of the Charity, by proactively securing funds from a wide range of incomes streams, which includes trusts, foundations, personal and business donors, major donors, grants, new philanthropic foundations, regular giving, legacy funding, community fundraising and events
· Develop the value proposition and ask for each target segment including partnership programmes Develop, maintain and strengthen relationships and partnership opportunities, with existing and potential funders and supporters, locally, regionally and nationally
· Work collaboratively with other departments across the Charity to understand, and deliver, their fundraising needs
· Develop innovative fundraising campaigns, utilising a variety of fundraising techniques to diversify income streams, in line with the ethos and values of the Charity
· Create, implement and evaluate a calendar of events and activities, ensuring that this is fully communicated to all appropriate stakeholders
· Effectively line manage the Fundraising Team, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their role, the fundraising strategy, the needs of the business, and their objectives and targets
· Produce budgets and annual forecasts, monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure as required
· Work with the marketing and communication team to increase local, regional and national awareness of the Charity, and its fundraising messaging
· Ensure that the database of fundraising contacts is up to date and effectively managed and used, in line with data protection laws
· Develop and maintain a system for accurately recording all aspects of fundraising activity, ensuring that all money raised is accurately accounted for in line with financial policies, procedures and regulations
· Oversee the development and motivation of the pool of volunteers who can assist with different aspects of fundraising, maximising supporters to maximise the funds they raise
· Develop, co-ordinate and manage web based donations
· Develop and design fundraising materials as required
· To attend key fundraising events, acting as a spokesperson for the Charity as required
· Represent the Charity at local, regional and national events, seminars, conferences to increase the awareness and presence of the organisation
· Continuously strive to improve the effectiveness of existing fundraising operations, by maintaining an awareness of developments within the fundraising area, networking with colleagues, keeping up
To date with legislation and charity law etc.
The individual will have experience planning, leading, and managing development projects that deliver against agreed financial targets. Internally, this would include coordinating with teams to reach desired outcomes, supporting their fundraising needs, tracking on progress, and reporting through the Director of Development to the board. Externally, the Head of Fundraising will be skilled at establishing and cultivating strong and long-term relationships, work well with others across disciplines, and communicate effectively and with consideration of the organisation’s purpose and values.

FLEXIBILITY
This job description is intended to provide a broad outline of the main duties and responsibilities only. The post holder will need to be flexible in developing the role in conjunction with the line manager. The post holder may be asked to carry out any other duty or task within the responsibility level for their post.
