- A)BFI Pre-Assessment stage – asking the group about how to deal with the challenges of several “hot topics”, such as risk of artificial nipples/ pacifiers, use of LAM as birth controlmethod
- Ann from York updating that their BFI experience has resulted in increased messaging around LAM with all breastfeeding families in terms of what it involves (criteria), and part of routine counselling with breastfeeding families. Extra teaching with sexual health team and all Child and Family Health Team PHNs regarding LAM as viable birth control option was also necessary
- Grace pointing out that it is really about ensuring families make an informed birth control decision, and have all the information they need to make informed decisions, including LAM criteria, as well as alternative methods.

- Question to Grace regarding whether assessors
“take into consideration the individual situation of each client they interview, ie how many contacts has the individual had with the organization/HU”– Grace responds “yes”-can give info to assessors re ct situation- how much access to service has ct had and at what point in their prenatal/postpartum journey. - Grace reminding participants that if HUs have specific questions or challenges - can be addressed to Lead Assessor who will provide advice to work through challenge
