PTA Executive Board Meeting

October 16, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 3:00

Members present: Natalie Lindemann, Star Burgoyne, Krystin Snyder, Bethany Clements, Dorinda Sullivan, Maria Moreno, Sarah Taylor, Trina Shea, Diana Arnold, Marisa Rings, Caroline Romero, Veronica McGilvery, Sarah Pierson, Abby Massey

Secretary’s Report: Sarah Pierson

The minutes from the September 11, 2017 board meeting were approved as corrected.

Principal's Report: Veronica McGilvery

·  “Respect for All” - a plan is being put together, it concerns tolerance and respect in our school

·  “Great California Shake-Out” – Oct. 19 at 10:45, earthquake drill across state

·  Emergency Preparedness Plan – safety team of 3 teachers and Mrs. McGilvery, doing needs assessment, sea-train inventory, letter home about emergency packs

President’s Report: Natalie Lindemann

·  Martial Arts fundraiser – successful, will run deal again later in the year

·  Spirit & Pride – Custom Ink – made about $700.

·  EPK fundraiser – emergency packs, flyer going back out, profits will be used to get supplies that classrooms/school need, i.e. storage totes (20-30 gal.) for classroom packs, cases of water, granola bars for classrooms.

·  Jensens Pumpkin Patch – booth went well, but low turnout at event

·  Red Ribbon Week – Oct. 23-27, handout went to teachers on plan for the week, fire/sheriffs will be here on the 23rd 12:30 – 2:30, kinder parents will be notified they can bring their kids back, that was the available time they could come. Poster/essay contests will be held that week as well.

Committee Reports:

a.  Fundraising – Lynne –Great American Holidays – due Oct. 30, EPK packs – send out flyer again, Sees for Holidays

b.  Membership – Dana – 234 as of now, need 8 more teachers

c.  Assemblies – Caroline – Hoop It Up was awesome. “Alice in Wonderland” – Dec. 1st, will be in the morning.

d.  Reflections – Diana – 13 entries, double last year, will be recognized at Trimester assembly

e.  Meet the Masters – Natalie & Diana – Volunteer training – Oct. 19, 9-2

f.  Spirit & Pride – Maria – Mrs. McGilvery will announce the classroom winner on Monday announcements

g.  Programs – Krystin & Marisa –

Trunk or Treat – Oct. 26, 5:30 – 7:30, Taco Lady, flyer to go home this week with Volunteers needed, Bake Sale items needed, cars & candy needed. Get DJ reserved. Kari post need for these things as well.

Movie Night – Nov. 17, may change date due to holiday weekend. Discussed need for license to show movie.
