Mission
My Sister's Keeper was formed in October 2005 by a group of women who believed it was their responsibility and destiny to make a difference in their community. These women came from many different backgrounds and had many different life experiences, which helped to make the mission and vision of My Sister's Keeper diverse and far reaching.
The mission of My Sister's Keeperis to foster an enduring sisterhood based on core values, academic success, leadership development, spiritual service, cultural awareness and service to the community.
The charitable purpose of My Sister’s Keeper is to provide relief to the poor, distressed and underprivileged. We will accomplish this by providing monetary donations, to organizations and persons in need, raised from fund raisers MSK will hold thought out year. We will also, provide time by going to these organization and offering manpower and expertise where needed. The main classes of underprivileged individuals we wish to aid are children and women, especially single mothers in the Maryland, DC and Virginia areas. We want to aid 20-50 families yearly. We will find these people through ads in newspapers, radio ads or our website.
We also plan to provide financial aid to local homeless shelters and orphanages. We would like to start an out-reach program to help women and children who need food, shelter and other goods. We would contact local shelters to determine what aid is needed. Also, we will have our contact numbers on our web site where people can call if they need aid. We would see who is in need and what the need is and help accordingly. This program will be implemented in Maryland, DC and Virginia and will take up 50% of our time and will be administered by the officers and directors of the organization.
Candidacy for membership into My Sister's Keeper is open to all women of high ethical and moral standards who would like to part take in the uplifting of others while promoting self awareness and commitment to excellence.
Vision
My Sister's Keeper is a sisterhood of women who have consciously chosen this group as a means of self-fulfillment through volunteer service, spiritual guidance, academic encouragement and cultural awareness.
My Sister's Keeper encourages high moral and ethical standards, promotes unity and friendship among women of every color and works to alleviate problems concerning children and women in our community while serving our community as a whole.

Membership Application
Candidacy for membership into My Sister Keeper is open to all women of high ethical and moral standards who would like to participate in the uplifting of others while promoting self awareness and commitment to excellence.
Those seeking MSK membership are required to be a probationary status for 60 days from the date her application is presented to MSK members. During this time, probationary members are expected to pay $10 a month dues and must attend all MSK meetings, which are held on the second Thursday of each month. Said members must all attend at least 50 percent of all MSK functions that take place inside of the probationary time frame.
Upon completion of this requirement, MSK members will vote to accept the probationary member as a full member. A vote of at least 50 percent of the members present is needed to welcome probationary member to full member status.
