Lillian Grace Olmstead, born on January 22, was baptized at home on Saturday, September 17. “Infants are introduced by baptism into the Christian heaven, and there angels are assigned to them by the Lord to take care of them… [keeping them] in a state to receive the Lord.”TCR 677:5 May this little lamb be forever blessed.

On September 19, Kenan Christopher Smith made a confession of his faith, confirming his baptism of December 19, 1993. We wish him every blessing as he places himself voluntarily under the government of the Lord. “In Thy statutes I will be pleased; I will not forget Thy Word.” Ps. 119:16

[A Message from the Newly Engaged:]Let’s jump right in. Over the past 2½ years, the whole society has been supportive of our relationship, and for that we could not be more grateful. It is because of this that we were so pleased to announce our engagement last week. We can’t thank you enough for all your support. We are unsure where life will take us in the coming year, but our affection for Kempton is such that at a minimum we will visit often. One thing is for certain: We have never been more excited for what lies ahead as we prepare to spend the rest of our lives together, building our relationship with each other and with the Lord. – Kenan Smith and Kathleen Smith

Pastor’s Council will be meeting this coming Tuesday, on Sept. 27. The main question will be whether we should call Rev. Brett Buick to be our Assistant Pastor. Rev. Buick has been living and working here for several years now, while in theological school, during his candidacy, and then for a year since his inauguration into the priesthood. Bishop Keith appointed him to be an assistant to the pastor of KemptonNewChurch on his graduation from theological school. Now it is a good time to decide whether we would like to call him to be our Assistant Pastor, effective July 1, 2017.

Bishop Keith has advised that we do not need a selection committee and a search process for the nomination of Rev. Buick to become our Assistant Pastor. Instead, I am taking counsel with the congregation via the pastor’s council and everyone else who would like to offer an opinion. I will communicate the thoughts of the congregation to the bishop. If the thoughts and opinions expressed are widely affirmative, Bishop Keith will nominate him to be our Assistant Pastor, and we will vote on this nomination at the Society Meeting.

If you have thoughts about this possible nomination and call, please share them with me or with a member of the pastor’s council: Gideon & Loretta Alden, Amanda Heiter, Justin & Anndwyn Hendricks, Liza Jungé, Seth & Heather King, Gordon & Jen McQueen, and Anna Volden.

“Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.”The 7th& 8thgrades cordially invite the society to come hear theirrecital of the poem "Paul Revere's Ride" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. 8:20 A.M. in the Society Room on Monday, September 26. All are welcome to come to whole-school chapel beforehand (starting at 8:00). Hope to see youthere! - Miss Katrin
