Simulation Facilitator

Purpose

Purpose:

Provides simulation expertise, direction, and develops/assists faculty with developing simulation exercises and scenarios based on the course objectives of College of Nursing (CON) faculty.

Essential Functions

Function 1:

Provides simulation expertise, direction, and develops/assists faculty with developing simulation exercises and scenarios based on the course objectives of CON faculty. Devises and implements simulation programs and projects for students in the nursing programs and regionally as a leader in simulation and clinical best practices.

35 % Time

Function 2:

Assists with revision of the policies and procedures that support the strategic plan and mission of the Smart Hospital and CON. Interacts with university departments, special groups, and external agencies in administering programs. Serves on various committees as assigned.

10 % Time

Function 3:

Develops expertise in additional assigned specialty and functional areas, i.e. Standardized Patients, Electronic Health Records, Pyxis. Develops and documents procedures, and conducts team and faculty training to ensure implementation and continuity. Cross trains with other Simulation facilitators to ensure understanding and coverage of assigned specialty and functional areas.

20 % Time

Function 4:

Collects usage and training data from functional area for research and logistical planning. Performs various ditues to support testing and research

10 % Time

Function 5:

Provides training to fellows, interns, and assistants. Proctor center exercises as assigned. Advises Assistant Dean for Simulation and Technology and Simulation Operations Manager on all matters of faculty development and nursing educations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Masters prepared nursing degree from an accredited institution. Two to four years of simulation based instructional experience, including training and application in debriefing techniques. Ability to work as a team player in a simulation-based instruction environment, including modeling leadership and follower ship. Ability to take direction from departmental and UTA CON leadership and provide unsupervised support for the UTA CON/Smart Hospital mission and strategic plan. Preferred Qualifications:

State RN license preferred. TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer preferred.
