The Book of Psalms is known as the great hymnbook of Israel. Psalms is not only a book of PRAISE, but it is also a book of HUMAN EXPERIENCE. Perhaps the central theme is found in these verses:

Psalm 29:1-2“Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. (2) Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Psalm 8:1,"O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth, who hast set thy GLORY above the heavens."

Psalms 63:1-2,"O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee,...to see THY POWER and GLORY, as I have seen thee in the sanctuary."

If we follow what God says in these verses, ascribing to God the glory due to Him, we shall never be able to exhaust that glory. Therefore, The GLORY OF GOD MUST BE IN OUR LIVES.

QUESTION: "What is the chief end of man? ANSWER: "Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever."

Isaiah 43:7 tells us we have been created for“God’s Glory.”“Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, yea, I have made him.Now the passage that brings into focus the purpose of our existence is found in I Corinthians 10:31,"Whether, therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

Look at how broadly Paul puts it, "Whether" we are eating or drinking, hurting or helping, serving or struggling. Our activities are limitless, but the purpose remains the same – doing all for the glory of God.Look at how limitless: the word "whatsoever..."implies. It is as broad as we wish to make it.

Moms, are you raising your children and caring for your husband "for the Glory of God"?

Dads, are you leading your home and loving your wife "for the Glory of God"?

Grandparents, are you praying for your grandchildren "for the Glory of God"?

Ministry worker, are you serving the Lord "for the Glory of God"?

Whatever circumstance of life you are in, the home, the job, the church, wherever or in whatever; the activity as well as the motive behind it must be for one ultimate reason, "to glorify our God."In I Corinthians 6:19-20 we are confronted with another probing question:

"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" Now notice in verse 20 the reason for asking such a question, "For ye are bought with a price: therefore GLORIFY GOD in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

Here again, God is concerned that whatsoever you aredoing in life -at home, on the job,or in the church must be only for one reason; "To Glorify God!"
