FATIGUE
NOTE:
Spring failure under cyclic operation is best determined by actual testing.Theoretical calculations for fatigue are based on operating stress and only approximate the cycle life.
Cycle testers at Smalley can be utilised to assist in determining anticipated cycle life. / Static Application

General Information
SIZE RANGE: / STRESS RELIEF/ PRECIPITATION HARDENINGDiameters: ⅜ to 84 inches (9.5 to 2130mm) / All springs are heat treated prior to shipment
Non-precipitation hardenable materials (i.e. 302 & 316 St/St, Carbon Steel) are stress relieved to remove coiling strains.
Precipitation hardenable materials are hardened to specification, in an open atmosphere furnace.
Optional atmosphere controlled heat treatments are available on request.
Material thickness: .008 - .125” (0.2 – 3.2mm)
Radial width: .030 - .750” (0.7 – 19.0mm)
PACKAGING
Springs 1⅜ (34.9mm) OD and over tube (coin)
packed in lengths 10 to 18 inches.
Springs under 1⅜ (34.9mm) are bulk packed.
Other arrangements made on request.
