Pre-Prep Class Teacher

●To lead and organise the successful running of a class

●To oversee all academic and pastoral care within the class

●To arrange timetable, planning, and schemes of work with parallel teacher and Head of Department

●To monitor and evaluate the pupils

●To be part of the selection process on entry

●To keep up to date and maintain professional development

Objectives

●to teach all pupils and provide pastoral care to all in the class

●To maintain and promote good relationships with parents and carers and to be the first line of communication

●To review curriculum and timetable on a regular basis enabling the provision of a balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils

●To ensure monitoring and assessment takes place and data is appropriately recorded and made available to HPP

Principal Areas of Responsibility

  1. To oversee academic progress and the assessment of the pupils
  2. To oversee the pastoral care of the pupils
  3. To follow Statutory Guide Lines and school policies, including Health and Safety
  4. Keep up to date with Professional Development
  5. To run an after school club

Key Tasks

A1 Monitoring and recording the progress both academic and behavioural of each pupil

A2. Recording important information in Pupil Profiles ( iSAMS), including tracking achievements

A3. Responsibility for National Tests, e.g. Pips, PTM, PTE, NGRT

A4. Ensure that each pupil reads and takes home a book daily

A5. Writing end of term reports

A6. To arrange Christmas Play and outings

B1. First line of communication between school and parent

B2. Weekly playground duty, late room and daily lunch duty (covering for sickness)

B3. Weekly Assembly

C1. AM and PM Registration

C2. Appropriate classroom and corridor displays

C3. Ensure fire Regulation notices and golden rules are posted clearly

C4Check classroom furniture and equipment and write risk assessments

C5.Attend Staff Meetings and Parent Consultations

D1. Attend appropriate courses

E1. To organise and run an after school activity

Year 3, 4 Class Teacher

Job Purpose

B. Assessing and supporting pupil progress

C. Managing pupil behaviour and providing pastoral support to those for whom they are responsible.

Key Tasks

A1 To prepare and teach sequences of lessons which incorporate an appropriate range and depth of subject knowledge, skills and understanding

A2 To teach lessons with clear objectives and well-pitched tasks catering for a variety of learning styles

A3 To incorporate a relevant range of resources, including use of ICT and library facilities, in schemes of work

A4 To demonstrate in lesson planning and teaching practice an awareness of specific needs and requirements of pupils with Special Needs

B1 To employ a range of formative assessment strategies to inform planning, develop learning and evaluate pupil progress

B2 To provide constructive feedback to help pupils to reflect upon and improve the quality of their work

B3 To make regular and effective use of the school’s assessment and recording procedures and to communicate results to all relevant parties

B4 To attend parental consultation meetings

C1To make appropriate use of the school’s systems of rewards and sanctions

C2 To report concerns about individual pupil progress and behaviour to relevant senior staff

D1 To show consistently high expectations for all pupils and a commitment to raising their achievement

Please note:

The class teacher is responsible for teaching the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, and PHSCEE.

Currently French, Art, Religious Studies, Design and Technology, ICT, Music, PE, Games and Swimming are all taught by specialists.
