Dear Contact Name,
[Name of local]is pleased to be leading an annual campaign called Firefighters Coats for Kids (FFCFK). This local program targets impoverished children living in our own community, providing them with brand-new, American-madewinter coats that help them to brave the cold and attend school regularly throughout the winter months. With your generous support, you will play a vital role to ensure that no child in our community is left out in the cold.
Poverty in [name of city]? The reality is that many of our neighbors are placed in an impossible situation, trying to decide if putting food on the table, buying clothes, or paying the utility bill should be their top priority given their limited resources. In [city or county],[#] percent of local children are living below poverty , and [#] percent qualify for the national free/reduced lunch program, which means their families are struggling to provide even the most basic needs such as food and safe shelter.
Who We Help:Focusing on children in their prime developmental stage when access to education and nourishment is absolutely crucial, FFCFK serves elementary school children, ages 3-12. Children selected are living in families that struggle to meet the most basic needs. Typically these families live at or below 150% of the prescribed Federal Poverty guideline and their children qualify to receive free or reduced price meals at school.
But, it’s more than a Coat: Providing a warm coat means children have appropriate attire to attend school, improving their chances of academic success, and ensuring they receive two nutritious, free/low-cost meals per day. The gift of a new coat frees up precious dollars in the family budget for food, shelter, and utilities. In addition, a new coat gives a child the pride of owning something new, properly fitting, and stylish. Providing a new winter coat not only prevents an incessant cycle of illness, academic failure, and malnutrition, but lets a child know he or she is valued by their community. With your support, # of coats will be distributed to all students in [name of school].
Multi-Dimensional: In addition to providing top-quality coats that have been made especially for our children in a variety of styles and colors, we are committed to providing coats that are MADE IN AMERICA. 30,000 American-made winter coats are being produced especially for our program, helping to bring sustainable jobs back to North America and helping rebuild our economy.
We’d love to provide additional information if it will help inform your decision. If I can answer any question about our program, please contact me at [email and phone number].
Please join in our mission to provide warmth and hope to the wonderful children of our neighborhoods. The kids are our future!
Sincerely,
