Job Title: Operations Manager
Hours: Full-time
Salary: £20-£25k depending on experience
Location: London
CanDo Coffee is a young social enterprise which supports disadvantaged people into employment and enterprise with mobile coffee vehicles including Piaggio Apes and a historical narrow boat, which serve top quality coffee at premium pitches and events across London. We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager, ideally with experience of managing a busy, reputable coffee shop, to join us at this exciting stage of development to lead the CanDo team of Baristas in this ‘front of house’ role and help build our rapidly growing start-up. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable understandingof the logistics, sales, team management, product selection and stock control in a successful coffee focused business. We are looking for someone with a ‘CanDo’ attitude who can use their experience while continuing to learn with us as part of a team building a successful social enterprise.
CanDo Coffee operates outside on pitches across London. This role involves being on your feet, outside, across sites. Our operation offers customers a very personalised experience combining a professional and quality service with the independent character of street trade, which provides a variety of challenges very different to those in a conventional high street shop. Specific Duties
Management of Baristas
- Plan a weekly rota for a team of Baristas across multiple sites
- Recruit Baristas on a rolling basis
- Design and deliver training
- Supervise and support the team across sites, regular one to ones and feedback
- Lead through example in creating quality products and offering excellent customer service
- Incentivise and encourage the team
- Implement and maintain procedure
Maximising Sales
- Ensure all products are stored and presented well
- Identify new products, suppliers and related equipment for sale
- Design customer service specific training for Baristas
- Maintaining the quality of product/service
- Promote CanDo Coffee in the areas local to pitches
Personal Specification
A CanDo attitude: solutions focused and highly motivated (essential)
Experienced Managerof a successful coffee shop or chain (essential)
Excellent organisational skills (essential)
Ability to manage people and equipment across multiple and changing sites (essential)
Must have a full, clean UK driving license (essential)
A commitment to our social aims
Enthusiastic with the desire to contribute to a start-up and help it grow (essential)
Willing to work irregular hours including early mornings and weekends on a regular basis, including being on call (essential)
