ASO Election Application & Spring 2015 Timeline

February 2 LACCD Student Trustee and ASO Election Applications available on campus in the Student Services Building, Room 209 and ASO Office (SSB 114) or on-line at www.lasc.edu/aso/. ASO will also post notices as to the availability of applications and the qualifications required to be a Student Trustee in front of the ASO Office.

March 16 Deadline for LACCD Student Trustee applications to be filed on campus in order for candidate names to appear on the ballot. Submit applications in Student Service Building, Room 209.

March 19 Deadline to submit ASO Election Applications to ASO Office, Dr. Oscar Cobian in Student Service Building, Room 209. Place applications in sealed envelope and attach transcript (unofficial is acceptable).

March 23 Deadline for the District to receive CSSO-certified applications for LACCD Student Trustee. Candidate names not received by 4 p.m. on this date will not appear on the printed ballot, although they may run as write-in candidates.

March 23-April 20 Student Trustee and ASO Election Campaigning Timeframe.

April 21 LACCD Student Trustee and ASO Election Forum at 12 noon in the Student Services Building (first floor)

April 22-23 ASO/Student Trustee Elections. The polling station will be in Student Services Building from 9:00 a.m -2:00 p.m. Close from 2-4:00 p.m. and reopen from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. each day of the elections.

April 24 Vice President of Student Services certifies the ASO Election Results. A manual count is conducted in the Student Service Building, Room 209. The counting of ballots is open to the public. The Vice President of Student Services also certifies in writing the number of Student Trustee Ballots which are then sent to the District Office.

April-June Incoming ASO Board members must attend ASO Board Meetings and any district required trainings. A summer retreat will be planned for incoming board by ASO Advisor.

June 10 New Student Trustee is sworn in at the Board Meeting.

June 30 New Board induction ceremony in the Student Services Building at 12:00 p.m. conducted by ASO Advisor and exiting ASO President.

July 1 New ASO Officers begin term of office.

LACCD Student Trustee is a separate application that can be picked up in ASO Office or SSB 209

The deadline to apply for an elected office is March 19, 2015. Application must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. to the Vice President of Student Service Office in Student Services Building, Room 209. Every effort will be made to determine eligibility within two working days once the application is submitted. Place this application in sealed envelope with your name on the front and name of the position for which you are applying.

Please attach one (1) letter of recommendation from a faculty member or a member of the community who can attest to your leadership. Also, submit transcript (unofficial is acceptable). Incomplete applications will not be processed.
