Summary:The Assistant Community Connection Supervisor will create a positive, community-based environment and supports the overall goals of UCM’s Neighborhood Connections work with the development of an array of services and programs that meet community needs.
Principal Functions:
- Manage UCM’s Creekside Village Community Center, maintaining daily operations of the center and delivery of services and programs to residents.
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of special events held in the community. Examples include the annual Community Day Celebration and small group meetings focused on community concerns and needs.
- Oversee community drop-in and referral services and management of resources. Answer questions about services and programs and refer further inquiries, as appropriate, to the Community Developer.
- Coordinate use of the facility for groups, organizations and individuals interested in using the facility.
- Assist with the development of a network of volunteers. Provide on-site orientation and supervision of volunteers.
- Research available services, programs and opportunities as requested by the Community Developer and/or community residents.
- Collect appropriate data for the evaluation and development of the community asset map. Further, enter required data information on a regular basis in to the UCM Client Database.
- Track the outcome and/or impact of services and report as needed.
- Supervise the use of the Creekside Village computer lab.
- Keep supervisor(s) informed of problems, successes, challenges and changes.
- Maintain an updated written description of procedures.
- Attend Neighborhood Connections and other meetings as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients, children, families, fellow staff and other agency representatives.
- High quality of work. This includes the exercise of promptness, accuracy and sound judgment, meeting required outcomes and the ability to perform all aspects of the job description.
- Dedication. This includes the desire, determination and ability to provide comprehensive services to clients, children and families.
- Four year college degree with emphasis in social and/or human services preferred. A minimum of two years of related work experienced required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Dependable and able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and occasional weekend hours.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clear driving record and access to a car.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
- Enjoy meeting and working with children, youth and adults. Exhibit a pleasant personality.
- Comfortable with working with the public.
- Possess a positive, helpful, can-do attitude.
- Capable of operating telephone, fax, copier and personal computer.
- Able to meet U.S. Department of Justice requirements for Employment Eligibility Verification.
- Must have a clear Virginia Central Registry check and a clear finding for other criminal offense for not less than five years prior to date of service.
Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:
The work is performed in an office environment. Minimal bending, stooping, kneeling and/or lifting involved. Position may require travel within the UCM service area. Work hours are 10:00 am – 3:00 pm or as scheduled during normal business hours.
