Senior Speech Pathologist
Position Purpose: / The Speech Pathologist works as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective, efficient Speech Pathology management and treatment of clients in the Health Independence Programs and other units as directed by the Senior Speech Pathologist or HIP Manager.
Qualifications: / Essential:
  • Recognised degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology and eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Minimum of 2 years community rehabilitation experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of clinical competency, both theoretical and practical, in the management of patients with communication, cognitive-linguistic disorders and dysphagia in the community setting.
  • Experience using and interpreting videofluoroscopic procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a patient centred paradigm.
  • A high-level of organisational skills.
  • Skills in program development, evaluation and staff education.
  • Ability to support staff at all levels as well as members of the wider community.
  • Commitment to and experience in providing quality services to people from diverse language/cultural backgrounds.
  • Police check clearance.
  • Working with children check.
Desirable:
  • Interest in post-graduate qualifications in a relevant sub-acute clinical field.
  • Student and staff supervision experience.
  • Victorian Driver’s License.
  • Familiarity and competence with administration of functional impairment measures (FIM’s).

  • Participate in the patient’s discharge in a timely manner, which is patient focused and in line with multidisciplinary team goals.
