DAAS Training and Promotions Worker : Job description

Reporting to: Management Support Officer

Accountable to: DAAS Service Manager

Over arching scope of role :

To work with other members of the training team and the management of DAAS toensure that an appropriate and consistentprogramme of training in substance misuse , alcohol screening, Identification for Brief Advice(IBA) and alcohol awareness is provided for front line health and social care workers across Derbyshire. To also contribute to the provision of promotional and marketing activities of DAAS and to provide an administrative response to on-line bookings and enquiries about training events.

Key tasks:

  • To liaise with Service Manager and finance assistant to ensure that training is delivered efficiently , within budget and that targets milestones are met
  • To provide training with support and input where appropriate from the other members of the DAAS training team and wider Derbyshire Recovery Partnership
  • To use a range of methods including where appropriate use of ICT ( Microsoft –powerpoint) to deliver pre-agreed evidence based evaluated training and information presentations across a range of front line workers
  • To respond to requests for training and oversee the DAAS training bookings via the website
  • To represent DAAS and the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership at promotional and awareness raising events
  • To keep course handouts, training equipment and resources updated and in plentiful supply and to oversee receipt of deliveries and training stock
  • To liaise with Service Manger, training team, Alcohol Concern, Alcohol Learning Centre Website and Public Health to ensure consistency and relevance of training provided
  • To ensure that referral pathways into Derbyshire Recovery Partnership Single Point of Access are communicated effectively across a range of partner agenciesand referring agents across Derbyshire
  • To contribute to writing quarterly Newsletters containing evaluation of training undertaken, relevant news items, forthcoming events and to ensure these are circulated appropriately internally and externally to a wide audience
  • To ensure that relevant literature about the service, training provided etc is made available to a wide range of partner agencies
  • To attend a range of promotional and marketing events throughout the county as required
  • To undertake any necessary training to ensure that the above tasks can be carried out efficiently.
  • To provide information to update the service training data base and contacts list and provide relevant statistical information in order to validate the usefulness and effectiveness of the training provided
  • To be flexible to the needs of the service providing some evening work where required and to be administratively based in or have a strong presence within the Chesterfield base.
  • To attend regular training team allocation and review meetings, management supervision and to take part in the DAAS PDP and appraisal process.

Person Specification: Training and Promotions Worker

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications /
  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Certificate of competency to provide training

  • Degree or higher level diploma in relevant subject area

Experience /
  • Delivering training through a variety of methods to large and small groups
  • Use of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate information
  • Knowledge of methods of evaluation
  • Undertaking promotional activities

  • Delivery of substance misuse training programmes
  • Working in a health care or allied service

Skills/Knowledge /
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
