Meriden Soccer Club Monthly Meeting
Tuesday September 30, 2008
6:30pm, Meriden YMCA, Meriden CT
In attendance; Tom Moore, Bart Soriano, AL hag, Kyle Haag, Lee Pandiani
The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm by Tom.
Minutes from the previous meeting were accepted unanimously
President’s report;
Tom reported that Kronenberg had been vandalized again. Tom sent an email to Mark Zebora, chairman Parks and Recreation Department keeping him abreast of the on-going situation. He stated in that email, the MSC would be purchasing a large trailer to store and protect equipment at the field. Mark responded positively. Al stated that his personal property (Mobile home and car) had been egged recently. He suspects the same group (or individual) that damaged the field and equipment. Bart reported that police had caught several minors on the 26th after dusk. Motion sensor lights and maybe an inexpensive video surveillance system were discussed.
Tom will email Park and Recreation and request topsoil and a level area approx 15 x 40 feet for the trailer at the far right of the parking area. The trailer will block the access to the field areas. The club may need 8 x 8 railroad ties to elevate the trailer.
The MSC contact at Dicks sporting goods, Jeff has been moved to the Boston office. He did leave the Club 15 bags with size 3 balls. Tom asked that Bart and Lee make every effort to retrieve bags and equipment from last springs’ season. Tom will be scheduling dates for our early spring registration. Al clarified costs for the spring; $55.00 per player, $25.00 travel fee. Travel players will get their first travel uniform included in the registration fee. If a new uniform is needed then a $30.00 fee will be needed. No fundraising for players who register at Dicks. There was much discussion of the fees. Not all board members were in agreement. A motion was made to table the final costs until our next meeting in October. Tom will speak with Park and Recreation to ensure the Club has use of Falcon Field for Spring 2009 season.
Bart and Lee submitted receipts for items purchased for the concession stand.
Pies-on the Italian Restaurant on Colony Street would like video submissions of soccer games to be played on there plasma TV’s. Families can order dinner and enjoy Italian cuisine while watching the games.
There was discussion of the clubs current web-hosting service. Everyone felt that the costs were too high. Lee will ask Ct Computer Service if they can host for us.
VP report:
Bart has been taking care of bathrooms at the field. Bart, Al and Tom reviewed players who paid for fall 2008 but did not have a team. Some players opted for refunds, while others used payment for spring 2009. Tom and Al will communicate regularly on these players’ requests. After vandals damaged our new nets, Bart ordered new nets. He reported that the Mites program was going well. He put together a program using resources from MLS, Coerver and US Youth Soccer and gave to all coaches. He felt that the Boys and Girls Club program had too many players on the field and the instructional level. The 8 v 8 formats should be changed to 3 v 3 OR 4 v 4 to better facilitate the learning needs of these young players.
No additional reports.
Next meeting scheduled for October 28th at the Meriden YMCA
Meeting adjourned 7:35pm
