AIM OF THE COURSE:
Get acquainted with basic concepts related to biotechnology, the history of biotechnology, the characteristics and advantages of biotechnology processes and the application of modern biotechnology processes in industry.
PREREQUISITES:
Fundamentals of biology, chemistry, physics
SCOPE:
Definition of biotechnology, division, period of development, characteristics, biotic factors of biotechnology. Enzymes: definition, properties, division, action diagram, names of major classes, factors influence on the rate of enzyme action. Microorganisms: definition, factors influence on the microbial culture, culture methods of microorganisms - benefits and disadvantages. Genes, mutations, mutation factors, natural and laboratory genetic transfer mechanism. Advantages of biotechnology processes. Application of biotechnology in various industries. The scope of modern biotechnology
