Weight Lifting/Conditioning Class
The class is intended for all students whether you are an athlete or non-athlete. Statistics show that a well conditioned body will improve academic performance (Brain Rules-John Medina). The goal of this class is to improve upon whatever physical shape you are currently in and make you more physically and mentally fit. This will be accomplished by 3 days of lifting in the Bigger Faster Stronger program and two days of skills, agilities and various aerobic activities. This program has been run successfully during the summers in the Colfax High School weight room and has proven results.
Regular attendance is considered a high priority in all the weight lifting classes. Attendance and participation are related to the instructional goals and objectives of weight lifting. When a student is not in attendance, he/she misses important instruction from the teacher. ATTENDANCE IS THUS A BASIS FOR GRADING IN WEIGHTLIFTING. This is a participation class only. You must dress down every down unless you have a note from a doctor. Credit will be denied when a student has reached twelve non-school related absences or 5 non-dress days.
If you take a non-dress day, you will make it up after school.

*After 4 tardies, the student will make up a half an hour. The student will make up another half an hour for every tardy after that.
A written notewill only be accepted from a doctor for students not to dress down for class.
Classroom Discipline
Any behavior that is detrimental to the well being of the class such as non-participation, talking, misbehavior in the locker room, bothering someone else, or general misbehavior will result in the following:
First offense---The student will receive a -10 for the day.
Second offense-The student will receive another -10 for the day.
Third offense---The student will be referred to the office.
These -10's will also have an effect on the final grade for the nine weeks as well as the semester. They will be added up and deducted from the total points for the quarter.

Weightlifting and conditioning will be required on game days. These will not be free days. Michael Jordan had a personal lifting record the morning that he scored 63 points in a NBA basketball game. It will not hamper your performance.
