Introduction to Athletic Training
Course Description:
PHED 17 – Introduction to Athletic Training4 units
This course introduces the student to basic taping skills, therapeutic modalities, and rehabilitation principles associated with the field of athletic training. There is a strong emphasis on injury prevention, recognition and management. Designed to be preparatory for a career in athletic training. 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab.

None
Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate basic knowledge of athletic training;
- perform basic stretching techniques;
- identify specific injury types;
- apply appropriate injury treatment;
- devise injury prevention measures;
- apply basic preventative taping procedures;
- demonstrate an understanding of appropriate emergency procedures.
