Constitution
Article l - Name, Purpose, and Non-Discrimination Policy of the Organization
Section 1: This organization shall be referred to as Honors & Scholars Ambassadors for The Ohio State University.
Section 2: The purpose of Honors & Scholars Ambassadors is to recruit high-ability and high-potential honors and scholars students for undergraduate enrollment at The Ohio State University.
Section 3: This organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
Article II - Membership
Section 1: Membership shall be determined by the current membership through an application and interview selection process of currently enrolled undergraduate students at The Ohio State University.
Article III – Executive Board
Section 1: The leadership of Honors & Scholars Ambassadors will be an Executive Board including the staff advisor and at least one chair for each of the following: Membership and Communications, Selections and Training, and Volunteer Coordination. The duties for the three chairships/committees are outlined below.
Membership and Communication
- Communicate important dates to members
- Take and send meeting minutes
- Manage member participation
- Plan social events
- Take pictures of group events and activities
- Register HSAMB with Student Activities and attend appropriate certification sessions
- Represent HSAMB at Honors & Scholars Programing Board Meetings
- Attend Executive Board meetings
- Reserve rooms
Selections and Training
- Manage new Ambassador selections process
- Plan and implement training for new HSAMBs
- Organize ongoing training modules for general meetings
- Assess the selections process and make recommendations for improvement
- Update application and coordinate its distribution to prospective applicants
- Maintain a clear understanding of the skills it takes to be an effective Ambassador
- Attend Executive Board meetings
Volunteer Coordinator
- Planning and organizing HSAMBs and other student volunteers for all recruitment events
- Attend Executive Board meetings
Section 2: Executive Board members will be determined through an application and interview process overseen by the current board, faculty or staff advisor, and co-advisor.
Section 3: ExecutiveBoard members may be placed under conditional status under the discretion of the faculty/staff advisor. Executive Board members are encouraged to keep the advisor and co-advisor abreast of concerns or issues so that structures may be developed to support Executive Board members in their duties.
Article IV – Advisor(s) for Executive Board: Qualification Criteria.
Section 1: The Honors & Scholars Ambassadors Advisor(s) shall be a full-time employee of the Honors & Scholars Center. He/she will be appointed by a Director of the Honors & ScholarsDepartment.
Article V – Meetings of the Organization: Required meetings and their frequency.
Section 1: At least three general meetings will be called each semester. The dates, times, and locations of these meetings shall be determined by the Executive Board by the completion of the previous academic semester.
Section 2: A mandatory annual training day shall be held for all new ambassadors following membership selections.
Section 3: A mandatory annual training retreat shall be held during Spring semester for all new and returning ambassadors. Each year’s date, time, and location will be determined by the completion of the preceding spring semester.
Article VI – Method of Amending Constitution
Section 1: Amendments can be made by the Executive Board during any meeting with a two-thirds majority vote or by mandate from the advisor.
Article VII – Method of Dissolution of Organization
All assets of the organization belong to the Honors & Scholars program and should be relinquished thereto upon dissolution of Honors & Scholars Ambassadors.
