‘The Dunnington family working together to achieve our best’

THE GOVERNING BODY

Stuart Slaughter, Chairperson

I joined the governing body shortly after my son started in Reception in 2008. I very much wanted to join as I was also a pupil of the school between 1975 and 1982. After six years, two as Vice Chairperson,I am now the Chair of Governors and sit on both the Performance & Standards and Resources & Management Committees. As Co-Founder and Managing Director of a business I bring a wealth of business experience to the board.
Outside of work and school, I love watching classic films and most sports, particularly Rugby, Formula 1 and Tennis and you can find me at most Worcester Warriors home games.

Suzy Fryer, Vice Chairperson

I have been a governor for nearly four years. I am a Foundation Governor which means that I ensure that the principles of our Church are incorporated into all aspects of school life. Also, all Foundation Governors have a special responsibility to makesure that the terms of the School's Trust Deeds are adhered to. Additionally I am the ex officio governor, which means I represent the Vicar on the Governing Body.

I was brought up on a farm in Buckinghamshire and although my main qualification is in Agricultural Engineering, I have spent most of my working life in Personnel Management and Human Resources. I am married and I live in Wixford.

Sarah Bennett

I have been a Parent Governor (Millie Bennett in Green Class) at Dunnington for the last three years. I have previously served on the Resources and Management Committee and now sit on the Performance and Standard’s Committee where I have recently been elected Chair. I have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have taught at both Primary and Secondary level.

Millie and her younger brother Thomas do their best to take up all of my free time, however when I do have the occasional spare minute or two, I enjoy sewing and making jewellery.

Aileen Hathaway

I have previously been a parent of a child at Dunnington during which time I took an active interest in the school being the Treasurer of the Friends for four years and involved with running the Children’s University embroidery courses. Consequently I am keen to see the continued success of the school.

I have an interest in and experience of SEN and have recently taken on the SEN Governor Role with responsibilities as outlined in the SEN Information Report on this website. I meet on a regular basis with the SENCO to review monitoring information and discuss any relevant issues e.g the implementation of the Children and Families Act 2014.

In my working life I have been a Chartered Accountant and involved with financial management in both the manufacturing and care/education sector. As well as attending full governing body meetings I serve on the Resources and Management Committee currently as chairperson. I am involved with Dunnington Baptist church and my home interests include walking, gardening, baking and choir singing.

Lord Hertford

My name is Lord Hertford (Henry Jocelyn Seymour, the 9th Marquess of Hertford) and I have been a Foundation Governor since 2007. I was asked to represent the BaptistChurch as a member of the School Governing Body and this is my fifth year. I am a member of the Performance and Standards sub-committee and also the Governor with responsibility for Safeguarding. My professional life was spent in Secondary education, and I really enjoy seeing education at the Primary level. I have four children, including one foster child through fostering with Warwickshire. I am also involved with a charity, Teams 4U, which works throughout the year in Eastern Europe and Uganda, as well as sending Christmas shoeboxes: the collection centre for the UK for donations (clothes/educational items/medical supplies/household items) is DunningtonBaptistChurch, so please feel free to contact me if you have any donations!

I am a parent of two children currently at DunningtonSchool (Maisie and Sebastian Morris) and was appointed as a Foundation Governor in October 2014.I serve on the Resources and Management Committee. Before this I was Chair of The Friends of Dunnington School for two years and helped organise events to raise funds for the School.

Originally from Solihull, our family moved to Wixford in 2011. I am a Solicitor and specialise in Employment Law and Compliance. After spending time as a Partner at a City firm my husband and I formed Morris Legal, a niche Employment Law practice in 2006. I enjoy cross country running and reading.

Rebecca Pridham

My family moved to Dunnington school in September 2014, and my girls are with Mr Wild in Yellow Class. I have recently been appointed as a Parent Governor (January 2015).

Originally born and raised in Cambridgeshire, I stayed in the Midlands following my degree in history at Warwick. I trained as a Chartered Accountant, originally working in audit (with PricewaterhouseCoopers) and later moving to industry working in large and small companies. I have also experience of working with charities, including a local preschool, the NCT and an environmental charity.

I wanted to become a Parent Governor to share some of my financial expertise with the school, and to represent the many voices of the parents, especially as they have made me and my girls feel so very welcome since we have joined.

In my free time I enjoy running and spending time with the family, often at National Trust properties and regaling them with tales of kings and queens. I help out regularly at the Bidford branch of Kids Run Free, a new charity encouraging primary school children to run for fun.

Richard Warner

I am a local, having been born in Studley and educated at Coughton, Studley and Redditch and now living in Bidford on Avon. I am married to Seiko, who was born in Japan and we have a dog. My career has mainly been in finance and general management. I joined the Shadow Governing Body in 1994 when the school was fighting closure and became Grant Maintained. I was appointed a full governor in September 1995 and have held many positions including Chair from 2009 - 2014. I have many interests which include being a Trustee of a Pension Fund, GWSR Heritage Railway, Amateur Theatre (Hon. Life Member of IDTA) as well as watching sport and reading.

Lawrence Wild

Lawrence has been teaching at DunningtonSchool for 8 years, initially in year 1 and 2 and currently in year 3 and 4. Prior to becoming a teacher Lawrence had trained as a professional actor and often worked for theatre in education companies around the country. His main interests include a passion for the outdoors and the natural environment. While living in Yorkshire Lawrence worked in countryside management. Lawrence has forged links with WarwickAcademySchool in Bermuda helping train and raise teaching standards within Literacy. This has offered opportunities for shared good practice for both staff and pupils at Dunnington.
