  • Good knowledge of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) Standards of Physiotherapy Practice.
  • To ensure that all staff working within the Physiotherapy department provide the appropriate clinical care to the agreed hospital and CSP standards.
  • To ensure that all documentation is of the highest standard as per CSP Standards.
  • To ensure that a high quality of Evidenced based practise (EBP) is sought. Maintain and develop current knowledge of EBP in all the areas of treatment in the department and develop specialist knowledge of individual sub specialty.
  • Undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of EBP projects, audit and outcome measures, either individually or with more senior physiotherapists.
  • Represent physiotherapy service/patient at multidisciplinary team meetings, to ensure the delivery of a coordinated multidisciplinary service and integrate physiotherapy treatment into the treatment. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning.
  • Ensure they and all staff evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes if required.
  • To be responsible for the safe and competent use of physiotherapy equipment, patient appliances and aids by patients and ensure that all staff / assistants attain competency prior to use.
  • Ensure they and all staff undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentation/multi pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills e.g. manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes, electrotherapy techniques and other alternative options.
  • Ensure they and all staff formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans; whilst assessing patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment in line with company policy.
  • To facilitate 24hour cover through provision of on call and weekend services, ensuring staff providing provisionfollow the Ramsay respiratory guidelines/critical care policy (2004).
