2.0  Discussion

2.1  Welcome and Roll Call

§  Darrel Thomas welcomed all participants to the second meeting of the DCML Application Services TC.

§  The roll call of participants was completed and the meeting failed to achieve quorum. The TC participants agreed to continue to hold the meeting for the purposes of TC discussion and to hold any voting for the next regularly meeting.

2.2  Work Assignments

§  Robin Basham raised concern about holding the TC Editor position. The group consensus was to have multiple editors volunteer when the need arises.

§  Robin Basham volunteered to provide liaison coordination and this was met with consensus approval

2.3  DCML Framework Review

§  Andre Kramer noted that there was a newer version of the framework specification that was sent out to the framework TC.

ACTION: Get the latest version of the Framework for review. V.13

·  Review of framework still in process, and Darrel Thomas suggested that he would be interested in seeing comments regarding RDF/OWL.

·  All initial contribution documents that were sent by Darrel Thomas for the TC review should be considered drafts and are open for review. Any comments or suggestions about the material encompassed within the initial contribution package should be sent to the TC mail list for review.

·  Discussion of the format of deliverables ensured with confirmation from Hal Lockhart confirming that there are formal templates with Oasis.

·  Since the framework specification is linked to each of the DCML TCs, there was a suggestion that each of the TCs will need to ensure that their deliverables are completed in the same format.

ACTION: Darrel Thomas took an action to find out from Framework group what the format for specification development

·  There was encouragement to send all comments and versions of the deliverables to the TC mail list since this system is being used as a collaborative tool within other TCs to enable communication and review of documents.

§  From the framework specification, it wasn’t a clear visual model that helped define DCML.

ACTION: Robin Basham volunteered to begin establishing a Visio template of framework.

§  Another point that was made was that the framework should present material on the need of a data center tool that responds to a business process model that could be based of static model. As such, the framework needs to establish a monitoring process to assist with audit of business processing tools.

§  IDS Shear implemented

2.4  Review of Hierarchy

·  Functional OLA versus SLA placeholder for services

·  There should be a review of related standards and how businesses provide services.

·  There was a comment on the hierarchy made by Barak Perlman who noted that the managed element approach is simplistic. Since this was an initial version of the hierarchy it was anticipated that the model would become more complex as further development occurred.

·  The runbook URL – service availability can be tied to multiple service area

·  The diagram of the hierarchy that was sent in the initial document package may be rudimentary so Darrel encourage all that if they have any comments or alternative diagrams, they should submit for TC review.

·  The TC should work on defining common terminology – what is an IT service or resource.

·  Application is either a service or a resource – federation of partial consumption of applications

ACTION: All to take action to come up with common terminology

ACTION: David Basham to provide information on IDL Service/Resource terminology

ACTION: Barak Perlman to review and comment on Service Hierarchy

ACTION: Darrel Thomas to send previously established Service classifications

ACTION: Robin volunteered giving OLA training (90 minutes for overview) – could be given at the TC face-to-face session. Sarah Barbuscia requested a summary of the training be provided to assist in confirming multiple DCML TC involvement.

2.5  Review of Intra and Inter Standards Liaison Activity

·  A review of desired liaison activity was completed with the following points made:

§  OMG - Fred Cummins could assist tentatively

§  DMTF - Open

§  EGA - Open

§  GGF - Open

§  WYSDM – Hal Lockhart as a member of both groups can hold this role.

§  UBL – Open

§  Additional discussion and volunteers required to assist in closing this issue.
