Eat, Drink and be Scary
- So it is the week before the Telethon. We could still use some food contributions and there are lots of raffle tickets still to be sold. If you haven’t done so, check out the online Silent Auction at There are lots of wonderful items. If you can and aren’t committed to volunteering, try to come down to the theatre on Sunday for an hour or so and take in the show. It is an amazing illustration of community spirit in action.
- As you may have heard, MCFD has decided to close the day program portion of the WRAP program effective Dec. 9th. This means that the CDA will no longer provide service on this contract. I want to acknowledge the amazing work of the WRAP staff over some challenging times. Most of them will be remaining with the CDA as Casual Interventionists. Kalleena Hunter however, will be relocating to another community and I want to thank her specifically for her contributions to WRAP and TAP over the last couple of years.
- I will be launching the new staff web page this week. This will be a place linked to the website where we will keep current documents for staff. This will include the new Employee Handbook, current copies of committee minutes, the latest few editions of UpDated and anything else that we feel should be highlighted for your information. Please let me know what you might like included. Timesheets and expense forms will continue on the share drive. Watch for an e-mail from Sandi with the password details.
- Please join us this Wednesday at noon for the second in the series of webinars hosted by the First Nations Health Authority on Cultural Humility. We will either be in Sandi’s office or the Board room.
- Sonya Vallette will be giving a presentation at lunch time on Nov. 18th about the work she is doing to introduce a new model of infant and early childhood court for babies and toddlers that are removed from their families’ care. This is open to both CVCDA and community service providers. Just let me know if you would like to attend. This will replace the scheduled Lunch and learn for Nov. 22.
- So I am thinking that maybe the Cultural Corner has run its (short) course of usefulness. I am going to make one last appeal for you to share some things about your personal culture for inclusion in a future UpdatED. If not I will look for another fun way to use that space. Hmmm maybe 101 thing you never knew about CARF!!
- The Children’s Charter committee of the Early Years Collaborative will be hosting a National Child Day Breakfast on Nov. 21st at Queneesh Elementary. This will be a chance to proclaim the day as well as to launch the expansion of our Every Door is the Right Door network.
- Upcoming Dates for your Calendar
- Dec. 3rd – Xmas event – this will be an evening event with partners welcome hosted by Jennifer Lewis. More details soon.
- Dec. 7th and 8th – CVCDA craft fair. A chance to display your talents (and make a little money)
