ANNUAL REPORT – 2006-2007
BACKGROUND: - National Rural Research and Development Association is a registered voluntary organization. Some youth of chalatwad from Jawhar Taluka came together and completed one year diploma of village level worker Training (V.L.W.T.) at Narangi (Khopoli). To solve the problems of tribal. The youth established above organization in 1999 with the aim of over all Rural Development. The organization’s registered office is at Chalatwad. The village chalatwad is 24 km. Away from Jawhar and 130 km. away from District place Thane. Operational area of organization’s is MaharashtraState, but at present is working in Thane & Nashik District.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR 2006-2007.

1)Trainings :- This year also the Association was arranged following trainings
a)VHW Training: - One day Village Health Worker training was
arranged for 11 volunteer of NARAD from different villages of vada
Block.
Aims: - To facilitate the primary health care of villagers in rainy
season

b)Panchayat Raj Training: - One dayPanchayat raj training was
arranged for 11 grampanchayat member of vada Block. 85 G.P. member
was participated in this training workshop
Aims: - To learn the G.P. member about Panchayat raj act and theirs
duties, principals & rights.

Jalaswaraya Project:-
The National Rural Research and Development Association are working as support organization from last year in 11 Grampanchayat of Vada Block of Thane District .Following are the achievements in this year. In this Project NARAD are working in about 15000 population.
1)CapacityBuilding: - Under this sub activity the NARAD completed 99% programme this year .Peoples are fully awared and trained about Jalaswarajya. People’s contribution is 100% collected (In cash & work donation) for the project.100% Low cost latrine is to be constructed in three Grampanchayat and 80 in remaining grampanchayat. Peoples are using a handle pot to draw water from bowl. They are keeping water bowl on high place. They now awared about importance of sanitation. Participation of womens in gramsabha is to be increased. 5 days training workshop was arranged for summitti member of all 11 grampanchayat.Total 79 member including office bearer were participated.Following training was given to them a) Accounting b) Plumbing & Menson c) Water Management d) Tender System.
2)Women’s Empowerment:- Under this sub Activity the NARAD formed 150
SHG of womens in 11 Grampanchayat under the control of villag womens
empower summiti.Zihla Parishad Thane are to be distributed 95% of fund to
all summiti.The summits are distributed Rs 5000/- to each SHGas seed money
for starting of business . The NARAD are provided following training to SHG a)
Vermiculture b) Candle & In scent stickmaking c) Papad & pickles d) Leaf plate
making e) Preparation of nachani satva g) Jelly making etc.
3)Water & Sanitation: - Under this sub activity of Jalswarajya project searched the nearest water source to the village in 11 Grampanchayat .The Zilha Parishad Thane appointed a Technical Service Provider (TSP) forpreparation of estimate & outline of water supply.TSP prepared estimate & structure with the help
NARADs engineer. 99% work of water supply Are To be completed. Following

IDD Project: - A project ‘Acceleration of Universal Iodization Consumption in
Maharashtra’ (IDD Project) is related to controlconsumption of iodised salt. The project issanction by UNICEF, Mumbai to ‘Voluntary Health Association of Maharashtra’(VHAM),Sevagram(Wardha)as mother NGO for all Maharashtra state. The National Rural Research and Development Association(NARAD) is local NGO working effectively in Thane District. Hence VHAM appointed NARAD as implementing organization in Thane District. The Project is approved for one year duration. Just NARAD is implementing this project in 50000 population of Jawhar & Wada block. Project main goal is to aware the rural people about disadvantage of eating uniodised salt & advantage of iodosed salt. NGORESOURCECENTER:-The NGO Resource center the project of NARAD started this year for providing technical support to grassroot organization .The grassroot organization faces many problem to manage voluntary organization. This is the first center in this Tribal area providing like that service.
