IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SCHEDULED BREAKS IN TAA-APPROVED TRAINING
In accordance with 19 U.S.C. §2293(e) and Federal regulations at 20 CFR § 617.15(d), if you are enrolled in TAA-approved training, you will continue to receive Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA) during scheduled breaks in training if a scheduled break does not exceed 30 days, you are otherwise eligible, and the following conditions are met:Ø You participate in TAA-approved training immediately before the beginning of the break and resume participation in the training immediately after the break ends; and
Ø The break is provided for in the published or previously established schedule of training issued by the training provider or is indicated in the approved training program.
A scheduled break in training shall include all periods within or between courses, terms, quarters, semesters and academic years of the approved training program.
To count the number of days of the break:
Ø Always use the published schedule of the training program. Do not count from your last day of classes to the start of your classes after the break.
Ø Count beginning with the first day of the published break and ending with the last day of the published break.
Ø Do not count Saturdays, Sundays and official State or National holidays occurring during the scheduled break, unless training would normally have been conducted on those days if there were no break in training.
NO BASIC, ADDITIONAL OR REMEDIAL TRA WILL BE PAID FOR ANY WEEK WHICH BEGINS AND ENDS WITHIN A SCHEDULED BREAK THAT IS 31 DAYS OR MORE.
I understand the above Trade Act provisions concerning TRA eligibility during breaks in training.
