Project Description

Type of project:

JEP, Curriculum Development in Economics with Integrated Quality Control

Problem Definition:

GavarStateUniversity’scurricula are current out of alignment with the needs of the Armenian Economy. This misalignment has caused tremendous issues in the quality of education being offered by the University because in many of the Colleges of the University, the information being taught is not marketable in the Armenian economy. This inability to provide students with marketable skills leads to dysfunction by the lecturer and the student. The results of the education are made insignificant because the marks the student receives many times are not based on criteria from the curriculum but from favoritism or economic incentives between the lecturer and student.

Project Goal:

To align the curriculum of the GavarStateUniversity with the market needs of the Armenian economy thus graduating capable and competent professionals who will find employment and opportunity in the national economy. As a part of this alignment and development market based curriculum, quality control mechanisms must be put in place to ensure both the lecturer and the student can meet the goal of the developed curriculum because if the market does not believe in the quality of education the graduates of GavarStateUniversity will not find employment.

Project Pilot Faculty:

The faculty of Economics in the College of Economics and Business will be the pilot faculty. All steps will be developed with this Faculty and then reproduced over the next five years with all of the Colleges in GavarStateUniversity.
